Should be punished by forfeiting the games.  Then they'll get the message.

Peter Liewell would never let that happen.

Instead they get another few weeks preseason to bring in new players and get them settled in to the team as a punishment.

Last season's Champions League isn't over yet, but already two teams have left the 2020/21 edition and a third should have left yesterday - but didn't.

FC Drita, from Gjilan in Kosovo, were supposed to play Linfield in the final match of the preliminary round after they both won their respective games against Inter d'Escaldes and Tre Fiori. But two Drita players have tested positive for Covid, forcing the postponement of the match, and UEFA's own rules suggest Drita forfeit the tie.

The winners would go on to play Legia Warsaw next Tuesday so there's not much more time get the game played, if UEFA decide to go down that route. A decision will probably me made before tomorrow is over.

I saw Shane Duffy trending and wondered who was after him. I think Celtic would be a good fit given he's apparently a fan and I'd be sad to see him go but he doesn't fit in with our new system and needs regular first team football to retain his international spot. The thing which struck me about the tweet below is that it is seen as an aspirational signing which seems mad to me as I see Celtic as a global club with a huge fanbase whilst we are a lower tier regional PL side which just happens to have 77 saleable centre backs right now. I'd say it would be more aspirational of us to try and sign Edouard from them (we won't):

The FA Cup won't have replays in 2020/21 because of the pressure on the calendar.  I wonder if this will become one of those temporary changes which becomes permanent.   The league cup semi finals will be one legged affairs too, I really wouldn't be surprised if that becomes permanent.

Celtic are a big fish in a small pond.  Brighton are a small fish in a very big pond.  In terms of income and revenue, every PL club is miles ahead of Celtic.  (Double, I think.)

Edit: If you look around the SPL in general, the previous teams directly before their current position for some of the managers include Bristol City, Sunderland, Oldham Athletic and Whitehawk.

I can understand it but that's shit for League 1 and 2 and below.

The third round is the zenith. Draw a massive club away, they play a weakened side, you draw. Kerching.

We made £1m from doing that against Liverpool a few years ago.

Good riddance to replays - they should go further and only play the cup games midweek under floodlights too.

Hopefully 2 leg domestic cup fixtures and replays are now consigned to history.

Tone deaf and ignorant of the point of the FA Cup.

Do you understand what the Champions "League" is?

but it needs to evolve to survive - every year they trot out ronnie radford highlights for round 3 when the reality now is PL teams playing their second strings and even championship teams taking the opportunity to rest players as promotion matters more, played out in half full grounds

if the ‘point’ is financial distribution I’d rather that was handled better thru other mechanisms than getting a lucky draw once every few years

in it current form the FA cup is dying a slow death of fan and club disinterest, but I believe it could be given a new lease of life with some bolder moves

the champions league is a different thing where the structure is driven to keep the elite teams in it and apart til the latter stages every year, what’s that got to do with the fa cup ?

Are they aware his name’s spelled that way? With the right-wingers they tend to go for I can imagine them being excited, thinking they’d got a Mosley.

Lets hope the fans don't ah :)

Typical for the club, they interview the new manager and give the process to the work experience kid.

Quality is awful and sound design / levels are truly dreadful, smh:

The entire SPL gets 32 million annually. Still Celtic get so much money from Europe and their large fan base it'd be rich for them to complain. Money has broken football.

The bold move is to reinstate replays until there's a winner, including the final. More games = more money, harder to win, more respect.

Every time they diminish it, they well just diminish it.

So Arsenal have signed Willian then. I like the player - he would've been great at Liverpool all those years ago when we were originally linked and even now would be a useful squad player a la Milner - but a 3 year contract seems incredibly generous and does reek a bit of Arsenal being a club you go to to be put out to pasture.

I don't think there's any saving the FA Cup now. The problems it faces aren't fixable by tweaking that tournament, it's simply been eclipsed in importance by league participation (not even success - merely being in the top flight for another season is worth more) and European football.

You can scrap replays, shift the dates, adjust the format - all you're doing is rearranging deckchairs.

What does that even mean, though? Does it really 'deserve' it less than finishing fourth? Basically any place not handed out to the actual champions is arbitrary.

If it's about prestige and/or clubs taking it seriously it seems like a circular argument.
