The Wrexham Supporters Trust Board would like to thank all members who took part in the Special General Meeting yesterday (Tuesday September 22) and took the time to vote. As confirmed this morning, 97.5% of voters (1,223 members) voted in favour of the Resolution. As a result, talks with the proposed bidders will now continue and we are in a position to confirm the two people interested in investing in Wrexham AFC.

Rob McElhenney is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter, best known as the creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Ryan Reynolds is an award-winning Canadian actor, writer, producer and business entrepreneur whose credits include Marvel’s Deadpool.

In due course, Mr. McElhenney and Mr. Reynolds will put forward their vision for Wrexham AFC and proposal for members to vote on at a second Special General Meeting.

WHAT THE FUCK?

Not a wind up then!

He's been mentioned over the last couple of days, but obviously nobody believed it. Another name rumoured to be involved is Peter Moore who grew up in my village, parents owned a pub for 20 years, and played local football. I dismissed him too, but just maybe he is the link between Wrexham and the other side of the Atlantic. There were rumours of an ex Premiership CEO being part of a bid  a couple of weeks ago. This is all a little bit mental.

If that's true, it's the maddest thing since Michael Jackson turned up with Uri Geller at Exeter City.

Incredible news for Wrexham.

For the rest of us it looks as if the plan to admit fans on Oct 3rd will be scuppered.  Sutton Utd are in the process of agreeing their "safe capacity" with the local authority, and have sold around 700 season tickets.  There is also another fan fundraising initiative in hand which has raised £30k.  So that is cash in hand, and there will be savings to make if fans are not admitted to matches.   Maybe they open the bars on match days and use the same rules as for pubs.  There will be live streaming available for the rest of us.

I think the aggregate score over 4 pre season friendlies is 2-1, so not expecting a goalfest when the season starts.

Never watched any before, but 3 episodes in and really enjoying it. Looking forward to Danny De Vito appearing. If nothing else comes of this at least I've  found a decent TV show to get stuck into. Don't tell him, but I wasn't  that keen on Deadpool and I only managed about half of Detective Pikachu.

We were a bit robbed today against Shrewsbury. We passed them to death in the second half. It's the first game I've seen where I think a crowd would've influenced the result. We'd have roared them to a win today.

Our team looked so much fitter after 60 minutes. There's no way we'll struggle this season.

Ipswich once again towering at the top of the table, think there might be another 5 or 6 weeks and the tumble will start back down to mid table mediocrity :-p

Three league games, three clean sheets. Not a bad start that. And great to see Oli Hawkins given a chance to start.

Looks like the National League will finally be kicking off on Saturday then. Obviously in front of no crowds now. Wrexham have announced streaming of home games through something called InPlayer and have apparently invested in some "incredible" camera equipment. I'll take their word for it, but it's almost  7 months since I've seen us play beyond highlights so I think I'd pay to watch us through a cheese grater at the minute. We've gone for 10, 15, or 20 quid a match options and then it's up to supporters/hollywood film stars to decide how much they want to pay.

What kind of numbers watching streams have lower league sides had so far this season?

Colchester Vs Bolton has been revealed.

I've watched all 3 of our league games so far and a League Cup game.

It's a fucking nightmare. Clubs going bust is inevitable.

I know families who usually attend a match together will now only need to pay for one and friends will inevitably be getting together too, but those stream numbers are even lower than I expected.

I was surprised considering there's been no football since March in League 1 and 2.  I would have thought people would be very keen to see their team play with new players and also, not being able to do much else on a Saturday afternoon.

For Colchester to get that low a stream figure, it's an eye opener.  The goals and some highlights are on Quest same day and iFollow isn't the simplest interface to use and view on your TV if you are limited with your IT/AV knowledge but I expected much higher figures myself.

Clubs will go out of business, it's inevitable as everyone has said.  To a non-football supporter, I guess it's just "one of those things" but for us, if you're anything like me, it's part of your fabric, your life, your emotional attachment with a place and other people.  You can walk down the high street and see a guy in a Chelsea shirt but it's meaningless (unless you're in London), seeing someone in the supermarket with a shirt or a hat or a coat with your club crest on it means something; even if you don't know them, you'll give them a nod and a wink or say hello.  These clubs are our community.

This kind of thing doesn't help http://www.corinthian-casuals.com/news/corinthian-casuals-vs-dulwich-hamlet-statement

Quote

Following an announcement from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in conjunction with the FA, Corinthian-Casuals will be unable to admit supporters of Dulwich Hamlet to King George’s Arena for the FA Cup 2nd Round Qualifying fixture on Saturday 3rd October.

As the coronavirus is clearly clever enough to differentiate between supporters of Step 2 and 3 clubs, in their wisdom, supporters of National League clubs – which include Dulwich Hamlet – are banned from spectating.

We have held back on the sale of tickets for the time being but will unfortunately have to limit these to Corinthian-Casuals and neutral supporters only. Please do not purchase tickets if you are a supporter of Dulwich Hamlet F.C. as both clubs have to adhere to these rules (we cannot believe we’ve had to type that).

We’d like to place on record that as a club, we are not in favour of this utterly baffling ruling, we believe it is wholly unnecessary and we are having to put in place these restrictions under duress.

Sutton has had to abandon the plan to stream Saturday's match to the MBA lounge (a big room with bar and stage usually arranged with largish tables), which they would have seen as an opportunity to raise cash from bottled beer and merchandise.  So, it's home streaming, or nowt, for all.

Wrexham won!

Boreham Wood are clearly a good side and should be up there again this season. They battered us in the first half, but our full back Reece Hall Johnson scored kind of against the run of play. Their pressure in the second resulted in an equaliser from a set piece, but then Luke Young scored a superb free kick to get us all three points. We were patchy, although that was understandable given the number of new players we've signed and the better ones who were't fit enough to play. It was an enjoyable match though and the stream coverage was fine. Amusingly, the automated camera had a tendency to follow the subs warming up while players on the pitch were stationary before a set piece was taken, but thankfully we didn't miss anything crucial and the picture quality was alright. Would have loved to have been there with a few thousand others, but it felt good to be watching us play again.

Both potential owners were watching, so that still seems to be happening.

Cracking win for you too Cosmic Guru!

Blimey we finally won a game. Impressive come back from 2-1 down as well to win 4-2 away from home. I must admit, I completely didn't anticipate that scoreline at all. Especially looking at the team sheet and seeing two of our best players on the bench.

Sometimes it's about players who are in form though and Marcus Harness proved that today with a hat trick.

2700 streaming the Wrexham game, which seems pretty good to me given how few of those will have been Boreham Wood fans.

Sounds like Halifax had the same robocamera as us today. Apparently their fans were treated to a view of their own keeper shuffling around his box while a penalty was being scored up the other end of the pitch

Hull looked like Man City in the first half and went 1-0 up very early with a very good goal. We then decided to play. I thought we were worth a draw.

I'm not worried about League 1.

If Hull hadn't scored, it would have been the most entertaining 0-0 I've seen.

I think Hull City will go up automatically. They started the game like 11 sprinters. Shock and awe.
