Resident Evil 4 details

Are the images linked anywhere else - the bandwidth is exceeded for the 10 that were linked to earlier, so I've only seen the 3 seperately linked. Thanks.

Is that plot stuff oficially confirmed by Capcom? I still reckon its to throw people off the scent of the real plot - it wouldn't do any good to have leaked plot details really now would it, considering how much they rely on twists and stuff.

Thanks, the link for the images, folks, if you didn't get em the first time, is:

I think it looks like it could be quite cool. It reminds me a lot of Forbidden Siren. Even if the plot stuff is true, who cares as it'll be seperate to the main RE plot. I like that it looks more like its based around one area you may revisit quite a bit.

I'm sure they're just showing the daytime type bits now. This is just a wee part of the game.

My secret and underground (he is even invisible) insider told me Leon can ride the cow.

That would be pretty cool actually as comic relief :P Ride the cow and kick angy villagers arse. Maybe Leon can make the villagers happy by giving them milk. Makes perfect sense :)

I sense an OoT style milking scenario coming on, complete with a 'mystical' wind instrument...

Hm.. I always thought that Umbrella as a 'super-power' would leave the scene at some point. It seemed to me that they were portrayed as this giant, thoroughly corrupt organisation, who had created something terrible which they attempted to use to their own ends, but were ultimately unable to control. Eventually the chaos they spread would consume them.

Well, it would have taken the army 4 hours to hear about it and another 6 to clear everything up and shut down umbrella. So no wonder they're gone. If you're going to be evil, be subtle.

So, 1st person AND the old controls.. there's got to be a tweak to the controls or something, otherwise it'll control like that didgem game that came free with Windows Plus+ Pack

even if umbrella are gone (and lets face it, who really believe they'll be totally absent from the plot?), their agents and similar oragisations will fill that gap.

what really excites me about this as a massive fan of the series is that it isnt the big final story everyone was expecting. imagine if this is the bridge and for resi 5 we get the big final story with all these fantastic editions and gameplay innovations :P

well, that and the cow

Hmmm

January 30, 2004 - Capcom Entertainment yesterday announced that it premiered the first-ever playable version of the highly anticipated survival horror sequel Resident Evil 4 on January 28 in Las Vegas.

Though IGN was on-hand for the presentation, non-disclosure agreements prevent us from revealing details about the game until a later date specified in advance by the publisher.

The announcement, which is hosted on Capcom's Japanese website, offers very little tangible news on the title. But the company does state that RE4 features a "fresh look and redesigned concepts." It also confirms a 2004 release date for the game in the US and Japan and a 2005 debut in Europe. Finally, designer Shinji Mikami is officially credited as the title's story writer and director.

The announcement lists several catch phrases to describe the game including all of the following: "your worst fears"; "the inevitable destruction of society"; "trust your inner senses"; and "you've never seen Resident Evil like this before."

IGN will have more on the game as soon as we can.

Damn those NDAs!

Got to say I really don't like the look of what we've seen of the game so far, fingers crossed for zombies and an Umbrella base.

You know what, I'd love it if there wasn't an umbrella base. It's so bloody boring at the end of Resident Evil games to always know you'll be entering some Umbrella facility which will then self destruct, not forgetting the boss you inevitably have to fight whilst time's running out. It's a broken record which I hope they change.

that scene also has the greatest music.

hmmm i'm tempted to play it again now. well not now obviously.

I love the whole double whammy ending to Resident Evil 2. The first play through, killing the boss with the ricket launcher and then getting on to the train felt like a little bit of a let down when I first played it. Then playing through Claire's B section and then picking up Leon on the platform and then the Uber boss was just the best thing everTM at the time. I was gobsmacked. Great game design going on there.

Ricket launchers are fun.

Having not played RE2 beyond completing the first scenario with Leon, and not playing RE3 at all, should I pick up the GC versions?

Just pick up the originals on the PS1. Should be able to get them for a few quid a piece. Or even the DC versions which should be equally as cheap.

Resident Evil 2 eclipses the original in my opinion. Or is at least on par.

I would put Resi 2 in my top 10 games ever. Hey...there's an idea for a thread! <_<

Damn right! It's still my favourite of the series.

The Gamecube versions are appalling IMO! Dodgy FMV especially. The Dreamcast version is the definitive I think with 60Hz video and full screen FMV.

RE: the Gamecube releases of Resi 2 + 3 - OMGWTFLOL! I can't believe they expected people to pay full whack for that shit! Buy both of them together for £20, then I'll get them, just for the sake of having 0 - 3 on the one system. Maybe Code Veronica. Doubt it though.

You've missed an awful lot of the best stuff in RE2 -- The second scenarios are generally more satisfying and scary, and (IMO) the Claire A/Leon B path is the better one of the two also. So I would say that you really should get a copy of RE2 from somewhere and the GC version is probably as good as any, if you can get it cheap enough.

RE3 is more take it or leave it (IMO, again). It's got some great moments, but it feels a lot like a side story and re-tread.

um, early April fool?

this must be. I mean, the First person perspective/no Umbrella/no Zombies/Wide open spaces/set in a village etc isn't exactly condusive with previously released info about Leon "returning to the mansion where it all began", the new "free-following third-person perspective" and so on.

I don't believe this, sounds like utter bullsh1t to throw people off track.
