Middlesbrough doing our very best to keep Derby up. Which is strange considering our recent history with the chairman, fully expected us to be on holiday mode in both games.

Footballing integrity lives on!

Yep, big favours from you this week. Shame we're trying our absolute best not to take advantage. We're absolutely fucking shit this season.

Well, Watford promoted at the first attempt somehow. Weird considering they were pretty horrendous until February, surviving purely on our good defence and dodgy penalties. 'Coincidentally' then Deeney gets a long term injury, the formation is changed and we smash the shit out Bristol City and haven't looked back. Hope we don't revert to hoofball next year.

If at the start of the season you'd have offered me Cov being safe with two games to go I'd have snapped it up. If you'd offered it to me two weeks ago I'd have laughed at your ridiculous nonsense. What a time to go on a run of wins, can't wait for August now. Back at the Ricoh, season ticket secured, all that's missing is a saucy brown away kit and I can die happy

Rotherham not converting any of their countless games in hand into points means they look pretty doomed although last day of the season is Derby vs Sheff We’d.

If Wed win Saturday and Derby lose and Rotherham win on of their two games before the final day then it’s going to be interesting.

I think 'financial doping' is a bit strong. For Watford's part, we sold players worth about £45m (as well as releasing high earners like Welbeck) and brought in cheap unknowns like Troost-Ekong, Sierralta and Zinckernagel. Had we not been promoted then Sarr would obviously have been sold this summer to balance the books. Neither us nor Norwich could be accused of financial mismanagement when in the PL, if anything we were two of the stingiest teams around.

Anyway best of luck in the playoffs, would be nice to see a new face in the PL. Anyone but Bournemouth basically.

They need to stop financially doping the clubs who get relegated from the Premier League. Brentford are the true champions! (cant wait to see us fuck up the play offs again)

Norwich's best two players were a free transfer and a whopping 1.5m.

They've taken the reasonable strategy of having a season in the sun, spending as little as necessary in a probably futile relegation fight, keep the manager (this is important!) and take the parachute money to rebuild and come back stronger.  I don't think that it is a bad thing, though it does kind of rely a bit on there being a couple of basket case clubs already in the Premier League (cf Sunderland, Villa pre-2018, Hull).  There seems to be fewer and fewer of those to take advantage of.

But fair play to Norwich.  Daniel Farke seems like a decent guy and is obviously a very good manager so it's good to see him get his reward.

Nah, the club were very clear they had a 5 year plan to get back to the prem and they got promoted in year 3 and therefore could not spend any money - going down and up is financially decent for them and likely allowed them to keep Cantwell and others and there was never any talk of Farke going, this plan has been stated on tv by the purse string controller!

Yeah I don't think you can claim Norwich have won the league thanks to parachute payments. This squad was assembled two years ago after clearing out everyone we'd wasted the premiership megabucks on last time around.

Everyone will have had relegation clauses built into their contracts so although I expect the wage bill is probably in the top six, I'd be very surprised if it was top. Of course parachute payments will have helped but we also don't have an owner pumping cash in to chase promotion as many clubs at this level do.

That said, I'd have liked to see Swansea or Brentford grab 2nd. Nothing against Watford but it's not a great advert for the championship if the three relegated teams end up all bouncing straight back up.
