From some insider bloke on Resetera:

I wont detail the specific rumor I heard. Because it's so outlandish I'm not sure I actually believe it myself.

All I'll say about it is that things might not be so similar in terms of architecture between PS5 and what the next Xbox is doing as everyone assumes. But again, not sure how legitimate this is so I would take with a huge grain of salt

I've decided that this must mean the base level Scarlett will be AMD based and the Anaconda will be Intel-based. Because that's daft and when we're talking about something silly like internet rumours about game console specs we might as well embrace daftness.

Could it be a discrete GPU? Rather than a SOC?

But multiple insiders have confirmed it so it must be correct.

I wouldn't be surprised. I doubt MS will want a repeat of the resolution battle with an underpowered console.

We will know soon enough but considering the team behind the X is responsible for Scarlet I expect it to be a nice piece of kit.

On a more grounded note Brad Sams is suggesting that MS might give a spec-free overview of what they are aiming for at E3. So like the PS5 stuff told Wired but communicated differently.

-Some sort of battle royale inspired mode in the next Halo.

He also says Halo Infinite has a mahoosive budget of around $500million. Which sounds like a very big number. Maybe the plan is for the new engine to power other Microsoft titles going forward. I like Halo but even I can't see Infinite selling in Red Dead 2 like quantities.

An Intel and Nvidia based console would cost more than a half decent second hand car. I’m all for something based on an i9 and an RTX 2080 ti although the price would be ‘fascinating’.

That better be just one additional game mode and not what the whole thing is based around.

That would make it probably the most expensive game ever made, which would certainly be an interesting vote of confidence from Microsoft on what is a brand that is no longer as popular as its peak X360 period. It would also dwarf the amount of money ever spent on the production of any feature film ever made.

Maybe he is referring to the total budget?, including blockbuster marketing, as that would be entirely plausible.

Yes Jon they are going to reveal the big new Halo game they’ve been working on for years is a Battle Royale game.

It’s coming to something when the people who make these things can’t be bothered to make up fake specs any more, they just redact them so it looks like a real Microsoft thing that’s at BLACK LANTERN / EYES ONLY / KILL OR DECLASSIFY clearance level, except they forgot to redact the hard drive bit. Whoops!

Why would anyone in the know create this document and then carefully black out certain words?

:) Indeed. As well as have typos in it (if this was part of a presentation they would have been fixed...)

All a bunch of speculation TBH. In the end its going to be x86 architecture with a GPU upgrade. More RAM and possibly an SSD.

Consoles are just really PCs these days.. MS won't probably change the pad that much either sticking to tried and tested. (which is fine I guess)

Just want to know what games they have planned. Because really that's all that matters.....

His next tweet...

This is just an illustration I created to not post the original document. The wording is not mine, it's a direct quote.

Any spelling mistakes are probably his. It's Just a slow drip feed of info (that he can post) until e3 I'd imagine. His content is normally spot on.

He's covered that off in his own reply to that tweet: it's not actually the document! It's his retyping of it. Pure truth bombs.

That makes sense. You could get into quite a lot of trouble if you published that kind of red-hot proprietary Microsoft information without their consent, but if you post the exact same information in a crude document you've shoddily knocked up yourself, then it's absolutely fine and MS can't touch you.

There's nothing new in that tweet is there? Just a round up of existing rumours.

Klobrille is one of those accounts that is right often enough that it's plausible they are an insider or they are just better than most at filtering out the bullshit rumours. Either way, it's better to look at their feed/account every now and again if you interested in Xbox rumours and speculation than venturing out in the big bad world full of people who's self worth is seemingly tied to the plastic box connected to their television.

Given that the PS5 will have an SSD, it seems like pretty much the safest possible bet that the new Xbox will have one too. You don’t have to invoke fake inside information to predict that.

The storage info is new. If correct.

I'm certain Brad Sams mentioned devkits having an NVME SSD on one of his videos. They'll probably end up with the flash storage soldered to the motherboard like we are seeing with laptops now.

Yep it will be much cheaper to do this and make a more compact unit. We might even get a HDD port to plug another drive in who knows. Be a first for MS to have user upgradable storage.

MS did a really good job with the X hope that whatever they do next follows the same path. I'd like to see a much smaller box with no physical drive.

I'd imagine both Sony and Microsoft will rely on USB hard drives to let people upgrade their storage next time around with AMDs hybrid drive tech (StoreMe?) being used whenever you plug a hard drive in. All existing technology and user friendly to boot.
