Wasn’t talking about full price, that’s about triple the cost. Using tricks, PS+ is £30 a year or less and GP is about £50. And don’t get us started on Rewards, can’t measure the time cost spent on all that admin.

It'll be somewhere between nothing and everything depending on how you feel about it. Mind blowing stuff.

I think we should keep rehashing this discussion Until Someone Is Shown To Be Wrong about a 100% subjective thing.

It’s objectively more expensive though, that’s why you can’t compare. It’s like comparing 1st class to 2nd class.

but you’re right, this happens all the time, someone says that he personally doesn’t rate GP all that much, followed by 5 pages of the most rabid of Defenders of GP Is The Son of Jesus How Dare You Say A Thing Against It My Life Depends On Random Opinions of GP telling him how wrong he is.

I bought part of my PS5 with rewards points 😱😂

Not sure why people keep comparing... :D You can't get Xbox GP on PS5 or PS5 PSN+ on Xbox. Many will just have both consoles or a console/PC (like me).

Too many games to choose from anyway.... Sony did a good job of getting all those PS4 games over for PS5 gamers to enjoy (many might not have had a PS4 before).

No complaints here anyway... many of those PS4 games I never got around to playing.

Anyhow this is an Xbox topic... :) GamePass is great and great value for money and all that. Not sure I'd pay full whack for it myself because I wouldn't get value from it. But I didn't. So don't even mind if I only use it periodically for some MS releases. Worth the price alone for me.

yes, full whack for GPU is a different proposition but with the gold switcheroo it’s great value.

I’d like to gift my son a month or preferably three months of PC Game Pass; he lives in Canada now. What’s the easiest way to set this up and get a code to send him?

https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/3-month-xbox-game-pass-ultimate-xbox-one-pc-canada

Edit: Argh, just seen that says out of stock, sorry.

I think you can just buy a UK one though and he would just have to change his region on Xbox.com, redeem it and then change it back.

Finally, the one thing Amazon is good for.

You can sign into another country's Amazon site with your UK one. It'll say you're going to be charged in CAD, but also factor in bank fees. I reckon get him a 3 month card from Amazon.ca.

I do this all the time, ordering stuff for me nieces from the UK site, gets billed to my US debit card. My folks do the opposite to buy my kids stuff.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but after having bought the Series X, my One X is collecting dust. I hook it up if a mate comes over and we want to play something together but otherwise it's doing nothing.

So anyway - is there anything I dunno... "Cool" I can do with it? Is it a capable retroarch machine like I saw with the Series S videos or not worth that?

Yeah, you can boot your Xbox into Developer Mode and then install Retroarch and roms on it.
You will need to buy a developers lisence off of Microsoft firs but it only cost around 15 quid, after that you use your PC to remotely connect to your console and install the software you fancy.
The One X is great for emualtion from the very first consoles, MAME and up to PS2/Gamecube, I think even most DC games run well on it.

Once this is done you can easily reboot into standard Xbox mode and everything will be intact, as the installation of stuff in developers mode doesn’t fuck up anything.
I’d recommend an external drive for roms, though, especially if you’re planning on using the One X as a backup Xbox and use the internal drive for original content.

Starting to see fewer and fewer games supporting Quick Resume now, which is a bit worrying.

This week alone I've been playing Last Stop, Art of Rally and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and none of them support it.

I'd always assumed QR was handled at the system level, and where support was missing it was because an older game had some sort of incompatibility, but I did kind of expect new stuff (especially Series-native games) to use the feature by default. But maybe it's something that needs to be specifically coded by the devs, and it's not high priority for smaller titles. Anyone able to shed any light on this?

Its pretty annoying and seemingly random.

Its the best new feature across both new consoles and you would think Microsoft would be doing more to support it.

I'm assuming they mean the new Series X/S upgraded version. I played through the original recently and it quick resumed no problem.

Good point. The new Series X update came out this week, the game looks absolutely stunning.

It does, especially on shiny mode. After my shaky start with it, I’ve really grown to like it. I’m up to the trials now, so I don’t think I’m too far from the end, but it’s been excellent for the most part. I’m really looking forward to the sequel now.

I put a couple of hours into it last night. With the enhanced graphics on there is no way you'd think this originally came out in 2017. It looks like a brand new game.

So yeah anyway....

I'm waiting for Game to do that console swap offer they did a while back.  Do they let you part exchange in more than one xbox one?

Have you heard that they’re going to do it again? I’ve still got a load of Xboxes here that I don’t know what to do with. This would be perfect, but I missed it first time around.

I'm just being hopeful they do.

I saw this earlier today: https://www.purexbox.com/news/2021/08/xbox_exec_explains_why_quick_resume_isnt_always_available_for_new_releases

Sounds like help is on its way :)
