I lost connection to the Forza 5 aervers for a bit too earlier this evening, so it was probably on their side

Ah, this started yesterday but I left it, figuring it was a back end problem on Minecraft. What tipped me off to it being something specific to my console was firing up Win 10 Minecraft and finding all my online access, and my realm, working as it ought to.

The deals with gold aren't actually showing the deal prices. Forza has buggered their servers I think.

Even worse, it’s working intermittently - just got charged full price at checkout for a sale item when it said the discounted price on the store page, so now I have to go through the effort of getting a refund and rebuying it which is a bit irritating. If buying anything, make sure to double check everything on the confirmation screen.

Ironically, I found the moments where I 'lost' online connection in Forza 5 were blissful. I find having real people fart about driving in my private space disturbing and upsetting in many, many ways.

Although, the hideous announcer person telling me that I'm no logged on was another black mark against what is on the whole a very enjoyable game.

You could just select horizon solo from the menu?

In a moment of weakness (I say a moment, what I mean to say is 2 days of closely monitoring stock levels) I’ve ordered an Xbox Series X.

I’ve not owned an Xbox since the 360 - is there anything essential I’ve missed since then that needs to be played? Hoping if there is it might be on Gamepass?

Also talking of Gamepass it seems like the cheapest way of getting it is for an initial outlay of £120? Seems a lot but I guess is seriously offset against the amount of free games over 3 years!

A) Good man. It's a superb machine (IMO) which whilst undoubtedy more than powerful enough to delivery stunning games (see Fllight Simulator and FH5 for a taste of what's to come!) has massivly endeared itself to me with QOL features suce as Quick Resume, FPS Boost and stellar backwards compatability.

B) There's a ton of stuff to be had and even if I mentioned all my personal favoriteds there would still be loads of stuff that I'd miss that you may personally love. A good place to start would be with the App and take a look through it. I often do so at night when in bed, find something I like the look of and then and telling it to download it to my SX and there it is in the morniong waiting for me to sample it. Great stuff!!

C) I'd agrue that if you've got the £120 available then it's an amazing deal. I'm old as fook and beyond the days of copying cassetes / buying Amiga discs at car boots I don't think there's ever been as cheap a way to access a shed load of games for so little money. That said if you'd like to pretty much haf that £120 then there's always this:   https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/12-months-xbox-live-gold-turkey-vpn-required-ps2249-at-cdkeys-3820843 :)

Wife treated me to a Series S for my birthday and the A button is sticking on the controller constantly.

Is this a known issue - will it fix itself with use?

I bought a Series S a few weeks ago as a toe back into Xbox. The A button kept sticking in the hour or so when I set it up; I finally started using the console properly this week and after an hour or so it stopped sticking. So I guess give it a while and see if it improves?

Dodgy face buttons seem pretty common on Xbox controllers generally, I'd stick it out for a while and see if it improves because a replacement might not necessarily be much better.

My presses don't always register or are inconsistent but it tends to only be noticeable when I have to hold it down for something. Holding A to sprint in Yakuza generally results in Kiryu/whoever randomly stop-starting like he really wants to run but also feels somehow hesitant about the act of running.

This is, I believe, the real truth of the situation.

Fair enough, but it’s a fucking great console. You wouldn’t be disappointed.

Still, if there’s doubts, hold off for a bit. They’re not going anywhere.

It's so weird.

I want to play Horizon 5, The Gunk and Halo please back-cat stuff in 4K but, I dunno.

If you have a half decent PC have a try on GamePass Ultimate for a few months. Or even stream using a web browser and controller.

I got hold of a X last year great machine, GamePass fantastic with it but ended up using my PC most of the time anyway. It's not powerful enough for 4K but decided it didn't really matter in the end.

As mentioned they aren't going anywhere.
