Fuck gamepass, my wife found Bejewelled on the 360... Now she's hooked...

Boys were playing OG Doom earlier and loving it... For Fortnite and COD players they were surprisingly engaged.

This is precisely why the Series S was invented…buy a few and bung them in all the rooms!

For anyone who has the elite series 2 controller, how good is it? Does upping the tension on the sticks help with aiming?

It's very solid and feels great in your hands. Can't speak for the aiming thing as I'm too old to play online shooters these days.

You also may want to discount my opinion as I found the Series 1 Elite fine as well, whereas everyone else seems to think it's shit. I had some delamination issues with the rubber grip bits but found that so easy to repair with a bit of two pack epoxy glue as to be a non-issue.

Erm.

I realised I could use x cloud for its true purpose, and now I'm playing Peggle 2 on my phone in bed. Living the dream.

I’ve got a series 1 and now I have the 2 the 1 feels pretty cheap in comparison (and I had to install new bumpers on the first one after they broke)

Ah nice, I'm not the only fool who's paid too much for gamepass then ;) Talking of which I was surprised to not find a 24month code in the box - but a bit of googling revealed the machine 'knows' it's an all access machine and you can redeem from the library (or settings) ... Is that what you experienced?

I paid full whack too, although I did already max out my three year cheapy conversion so won’t be activating the two years full price until next Feb.

Paying a few quid a month for a couple of years worked out much easier than putting down a few hundred quid at the time, so no complaints here. In the words of minifigs, everything is awesome.

So, if my son signs in with his account can he access my gamepass games?

Yeah, as long as you've got a profile on that machine. It can be your home console (no need for you to be signed in) or the secondary console (you'll need to be signed in).

At some point, I hope they ditch this dopey system and make it all explicit in the Family account thing.

I’m trying to buy something from the store using £25 of credit and paying the remaining £4.99 with my monzo card. It looks ok on screen but when the confirmation comes up in the monzo app it’s asking me to approve a payment of £29.99. I don’t know if it’s a monzo quirk as it tends to show transactions other banks don’t but I really don’t want to risk it! Anyone know why it might be doing that?

I don't owe you £25 if this doesn't work but I have done basically the same before - split credit with a monzo payment - and got a monzo approval request for the full amount, but charged for the right amount. I just took a leap of faith figuring I could complain if it went wrong. But it didn't and was fine.

So yes that's "normal" albeit poorly coded.

Is Skyrim Anniversary prettier than the Special Edition on Gamepass?

tl;dw -

They actually look basically identical. No real difference at all.

It appears that the Xbox Anniversary edition has a small amount of dynamic scaling which keeps it closer to 60 fps.

The loading is the biggest improvment. Xbox Anniversary - 4 seconds per load.

Doesn't add to home give it tile?

Yes, you can add a game to home which gives it a dedicated tile on the home screen, or you can add it to a group and then add that group to the home screen. I do the latter for a group I call "now playing" which is at the top of my home screen list so one press down brings up quick links to everything I've currently got on the go.

Can I just plug in any standard earpiece with a mic into the controller for voice Comms in online games? E.g. the one I use on my PS5/4, it's just a generic 3.5 adapter one, not branded or USB.

Just one warning, apple stuff is wired differently because of course it is.  It'll work but it'll have noise on your mic.

If you're using a PS4 one you'll be fine.

@womblingfreethere is no difference on the series consoles. The special edition gets all the technical improvements of the Anniversary edition as it's now Series Enhanced, the only difference is that the anniversary edition has additional content that you could previously buy. The special edition even gets the survival mode.

Great it's a PS4 one, I take it I can route chat audio through the headset and game audio through the TV?

Ah... I think I'll go this route, thanks for the tip!

Back when Mixlr or whatever was a thing on the Bone, I was so happy that I could simply delete the entire Mixlr/Social section from the home page :D

I still remember how Sony put a Just Sing or Singstar - or whatever the fuck that shite was called - icon on everyone's PS3 which you couldn't delete. Absolute motherfuckers

Just bought The Mummy Demastered on sale.

Heard the game was good but I'm surprised how brilliant it is. One of the best metroid clones I have played in some time.

Stunning pixel art and the music....my god the music. It's amazing!
