Any sites rate these cables? My Switch does this weird thing where it doesn't so much flicker as dim slightly, for a split second, every now and again. Never occurred to me to check cables.

The XSX uses the one that came with but lord knows what old tat I'm using elsewhere. Probably old Amazon Basics.

LTT did a big test of cables.

You can find all their results here: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1387053-i-spent-a-thousand-dollars-on-hdmi-cables-for-science/

Is there a way to pin a game to that top bar when you go the the Home page and switch on the Xbox? It keeps showing all my recent games/apps but doesn't seem to let me pin them there when I select options off the button?

No, you have no control over that bar, it just shows your recent stuff (plus the store which is permanently there). Then there's the row which always starts with "My games and apps" (or whatever it's called) and random links/adverts, which again you can't edit. But everything under that is yours to rearrange to your heart's content, so your best bet is to pin the game to the top of that section, then it would be one click down from boot up to get there. I have a group pinned there called "Now playing" where I put - you guessed it - all the games I'm currently playing so I can jump straight into any of them easily.

So annoying, hopefully they redesign it soon!

Just pull the right trigger and it takes you down to the next page, which you can edit however you want.

Just extra faff. Sometimes I want things to stay on that bar, can be annoying to have something in recently played then when going for a few rewards it flicks off. Should just be able to edit it as you want, its only a shortcut.

After a year and a half my Series X has gone from complete silence to now hearing the faint murmur of a fan.

Might give it a clean. Any tips on removing dust?

I used a hoover.

And piss. Obviously.

This is most likely me being blind, but is there a specific Series S/X version of GTAV on the store to buy, or do you buy the usual version and it'll update? There are so many versions of the thing it seems, and I'm having a hard time working out what's what.

If anyone cares to leave a link, that would be marvellous...

I might be wrong but I don't think there are specific versions of any game, it's one entry on the store and one disk.

The only thing I can think of is Activision locking their upgrade to Tony Hawk's behind an upgrade fee?

EDIT: seems Rockstar are another outlier https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/store/grand-theft-auto-v-story-mode-xbox-series-xs/9PCCGHDBMR1P

There are a few more, like Control and Wreckfest. But generally, you can buy a game and just get the appropriate version for your console.

Control Ultimate Edition is cross gen, weirdly enough. My copy explicitly lists them on the box.

This is the Series S/X version. Its the most expensive on including GTA Online.(£34.99) The others are the xbox One version via back compat. There is no upgrade available to convert to Series S/X.

Series S/X single player only version (17.99)

It is deliberately confusing.

I haven't really been paying attention, but are stock levels okay for the X now? They seem to be available on Amazon at the minute. I'm not getting one myself (I have an S), but thought someone else on here might be interested. If stock has been great for ages then just ignore me!!!

Yeah, been in stock every time I've checked in the last month or so now. CEX now sell for £50 less than RRP now too. Think the madness is over.

Indeed it does seem to be. I was browsing on FB marketplace the other day and saw one going for £170 - I was tempted but.. well.. average seems to be 350 on there now...

Does anyone on here ever use a Razer Kishi to XCloud game, and if so how do you find it?

I've been using the original Kishi since it came out (think there's a new updated model now). It's solid enough, obviously not going to be as good to use as the official console controller but it gets the job done. Personally speaking it's not ideal that it obstructs my phone's headphone jack, but appreciate most phone manufacturers have already done this themselves anyway.

The biggest complaint is probably how 'squishy' all the buttons feel, especially the triggers which are pretty awful to be honest. However I mainly use xCloud for slower-paced indie stuff or the Yakuza games so it functions well enough - trying to play a Forza or something might be a different story.

Lots of good stuff in the current Xbox sale - I just picked up the Cities Skylines Mayor's Edition for £16. My son's put hundreds of hours into the base game on Game Pass and this gives him six full expansions and a bunch of other stuff to play with and ensures we don't need to worry about it dropping off Game Pass. Various bits of the game are discounted but this edition is by far the best value.

This feels more like an Xbox issue than a Fall Guys issue, so I'm posting it in here.

I've got two Xboxes - a Series X which is set as my home Xbox, and a One X.

My wife wants to play Fall Guys with my son, one on each console. It's free to play and does NOT require Xbox Live Gold to play (apparently). He plays on the "home" Series X.

But when she loads it up on the One X (not set as my home machine), it gives an error message saying that "the person who bought this needs to sign in". I installed it under my profile but as it's a free to play game, surely that shouldn't make any difference? I need to sign in myself on the same Xbox, then she can play it just fine.

How do I get it so anyone can play this free to play game on this machine? I might try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it using her profile, but then presumably everyone else will just hit the same problem. I just assumed it would work for everyone.
