Hogwarts Legacy - Not as good as Dog Kid University

I was minding my own business on Twitter today and someone had retweeted something about French film titles. I was reading the replies and boom there was Spainkiller. I thought: Didn’t there used to be someone on Rllmuk with that name who was a bit of a dick? I clicked the profile and realised it was indeed the same person.

Also what's with the animosity lol? Do you think 'm spainkiller? Because I'm not. This account was made way back as a sort of fun account along the lines of Lying Cat. I just never did anything with it because I simply wasn't active any more on the forum.

Dutch IP Address? Check.

Tiresome bait post? Check.

Previously dormant account now only being used immediately after a spainkiller alt has been banned? Check.

Spotted with literally no effort required whatsoever? Check.

You were literally copying your tweets in to threads with your last account. The only reason we didn't find it earlier is because none of the mods have played Wo Long. You don't even use a proxy or anything. It's just fucking insulting really.

I think 8 posts has got to be the record for an alt spot though.

Congratulations, you're probably going to hold that title for a long, long time!

Ironic pinned tweet

Didn’t he become our second most prominent Twitter transphobe after RevStu? Another rllmuk graduate to be proud of.

I'll gladly verify me being me and definitely not Spainkiller lol. I honestly wouldn't know the login details to my old main account.

Feel free to reach out via DM. Otherwise ban me I guess for err... asking a question? (or being Dutch, take your pick)

Spainkiller, being internationally known, is an obviously understood touchpoint for even the newest or most dormant casual user.

Could have sworn we'd already had someone using the 'Personal Attack Dog' gimmick before too, yapping at challenges to the status quo.

I still like my original take that he's not an alt but an actual attack dog who is feeling justly maligned at the anti dog sentiment displayed in the thread title.

I thought it was a funny bit - in line with the account's intentions.

It's the bit when they pretend it's not them that I don't get. At least have some fun with it.

If you're going to be a Scooby Doo villain, at least blamed those darned kids!

This is so awkward. I mean to be fair, especially in a thread as sensitive as this one, I understand the paranoia but to just basically go "hurr durr, Dutch IP so must be this person" is kind of ridiculous to say the least.

Anyway carry on.

But there is no anti-dog sentiment in the thread title! Dog Kid University is a well regarded series, better even than Harry Potter if the title is to be believed.

I know, but by their very nature attack dogs are pretty sensitive.

Looks like since the alt turned out not to be the attack dog but someone else entirely judging by the banned thread. Was there some now deleted posts that we missed?

I think the Spainkiller alt just banned refers to why it is suspected the dog account has been reactivated (that was the account posting in the Wo Lang thread).

The BBC have issued an apology to JK Rowling.

https://deadline.com/2023/03/bbc-renew-strike-jk-rowling-season-6-1235281258/

What for you ask?

Quote

The BBC apologized twice to Rowling in February after two news shows failed to properly challenge the views of a transgender women who said they were boycotting the Harry Potter video game Hogwarts Legacy because Rowling is “anti-trans.” The BBC said the discussions, broadcast on Radio 4 and BBC Radio Scotland, fell below “rigorous editorial standards.”

The article doesn’t go into to details about the heinous comments that resulted in the apology, but it was this:

Quote

During the broadcast, trans writer Carrie Marshall said she boycotted it [Hogwarts Legacy] because she believed it to be funding “the anti-trans movement”.

But I thought the BBC was super impartial and have to allow people to say their piece? They keep saying they have to let people express their views whenever they let some Nazi grifter yammer on that refugees should be loaded into catapults and fired at France.

This is on the back of them deciding to make a new series based on her asinine detective novels. I don't know, TV series, hit video games, theme parks, movies, special edition 50p pieces, this being cancelled malarkey doesn't seem so bad. On the subject of her latest book, here's a staggeringly big chinny reckon

Quote

The sixth season will adapt The Ink Black Heart, which explores the murder of a successful YouTube animator who faces online hate and is accused of being transphobic.

Quote

Rowling has previously clarified that the character is not based on her own life.

Speaking to Graham Norton on Virgin Radio, Rowling confirmed that parallels between her own experiences and that in the book were coincidental.

‘I’d written the book before certain things happened to me online,’ she had said.

‘I said to my husband, “I think everyone’s going to see this as a response to what happened to me” but it genuinely wasn’t.

Absolutely incredible when you compare this to the pushback the Youtuber Shaun got when he asked for the same apology after the "We're being pressured into sex by some Trans Women" article.

Literally no one thinks she has been ‘cancelled’.

You mean apart from the media? A quick Google has pretty much any recent story about her citing 'cancel culture'.

And Brian Cox:

Quote

In May 2022, Cox said of the immense criticising the author has faced: ‘I thought there was something deeply unjust about it. And I just felt that.

‘It is happening time and time again. It is not only the people who are cancelled. It is also people like their families, like their children, like their parents. It has such ramifications. It creates like an earthquake situation.’

Other celebs apparently believe the cobblers she's cancelled.

And despite that one quote from Rowling that keeps getting wheeled out about how she doesn’t consider herself cancelled*, she keeps on appearing on shows and giving interviews about cancel culture.

Quote

[Rowling] has hit out at Graham Norton and musician Billy Bragg for "misogyny" and attempts to reframe cancel culture as "accountability".

The host of The Graham Norton Show on BBC One argued that free speech should not be “consequence-free”, stating that “cancelling” people is better described as holding them to account.

*In response to Vladimir Putin defending her when she was trying to distance herself from his comments before going back to her regular schedule of claiming persecution.

She’s obviously not really cancelled because the whole cancelled furore is a load old bollocks.

I think anyone can talk about so-called cancel culture without considering themselves cancelled.

I perhaps should've said 'no one with any sense' thinks she's been cancelled.

Too many people in this thread desperately want to act like she thinks she's been cancelled. She's also cleverly not painted herself as the victim here. She's made the point of saying she's got money and bodyguards so she knows she's fine. She makes a point of saying it's women who agree with her who are the victims.

There are plenty of things people can say about JKR but acting like she thinks she's been cancelled or that she's feels she's the real victim here sounds more like wishful thinking.

'Bad person must also think these bad things.'

She's currently doing a documentary called "The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling".

You can put that on the producers of the podcast.

She says on the podcast that she’s not the victim and hasn’t been cancelled. She’s not an idiot.

I think if I were trying to not paint myself as a victim and I was an extremely famous and rich person that could ask the producers of the podcast to do pretty much anything I wanted, I wouldn't like the title of it to be "The Witch Trials of Zael".

In this instance are you the author of a globally successful media franchise featuring witches, have had the Christian right burning your books and also a prominent feminist campaigner?

If in this thought exercise you are all of these things you may feel ‘witch trials’ works as a title.

From this thread I’ve learned she’s a clueless idiot who also chooses her words cleverly and carefully to do maximum damage.

I don't think she's a clueless idiot, I think she does choose her words very carefully because she has a legion of people who are dying to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, but all of her behaviour, interviews, podcasts etc. are exactly the actions of someone who has been 'cancelled'. She's just smart and knows that if she doesn't say the words, she can't be accused of it, despite her actions, attitude and behaviour reflecting, say, a reactionary old fart who thinks every utterance of theirs is of paramount importance to the world.
