I get that it's an open world RPG and that will have appeal here but the fact it's based on children's books and there's so many more games than there are hours in the day I'm just surprised many Rllmuk people care.

Of course it's based around Hogwarts rather than the books but its set in the "wizarding world" Which has a fairly deep fantasy lore.

Divinity original sin 2 probably the last great one but it's hardly an ignored genre.

Loved that! As mush as I loved it, it doesn't scratch the itch this game has the scope to do....well, until starfield! lol

There was that other RPG game that has wizards and dragon and all that fantasy stuff. No idea if it’s any good .

I think it’s called Olde necklace or something like that.

I'm not a fan of the franchise and don't intend to buy the game but I thought it looked pretty good right up until you take out a bandit camp using stealth or gun...I mean spells and then it just looks really derivative, lightweight and ropey.

I'm not interested in the game or Harry Potter even without JKs politics, but you could replace Harry Potter with Star Wars, Spider-Man/Other Marvel, Batman etc and make such a statement. If someone feels an attachment to a massive franchise then they're going to be interested. I'm not a fan of the current style of Sony action games but am nearing the end of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order purely because it's a Star Wars game.

I think that looks great. Get rid of all the combat against people (little duels against students are fine) and let me just go to lessons and explore the secrets of the castle and surrounding areas.

But anyway, still on the no list for obvious reasons.

I mean, they even have you chucking explosive red barrels at enemies in a bandit camp. Come on, there must be more imaginative ways you could approach combat in a Harry Potter game than that, surely?

The fact they let students use the UNFORGIVEABLE CURSES in that video.

I agree.

Need a Hogwarts GTA where you get Aurora chasing you for using Avadakadavra(?) and stealing brooms

PS5 footage and impressions:

Looks great, even if you're not into the franchise the world building, graphics, physics, destructible stuff and overall gameplay looks polished and quality. Definitely a buy for me.

Maybe its just me but graphically doesn't look particularly impressive texture detail wise for a PS5 version and the pop in visible in the first min or so is pretty bad.

The interiors look better in scale but again the textures wtf lol (this is not zoomed in)

I think people have some HP blinders on!!!

I think it looks pretty good. The combat doesn’t look amazing - I’d rather hack stuff than shoot it - but the world looks very well realised. Looking forward to bunking off lessons to go and get pissed in hogswill or whatever it’s called.

The shape looks fine to me. Isn’t that how arch doorway bricks look?

I mean the shape of the bump mapping on the inner arch rather than the shape of the arch itself
