WandaVision - 15 January 2021

Really good episode. They're taking this places now...

Speculation

Spoiler

This has got up be the way they're going to introduce mutants to the MCU. If it isn't, they've looked a gift horse in the mouth and somehow managed to set up a blue balls situation as well.

What comic is this based on? Or is it bringing things in from lots of different ones?

Comics spoiler below - may not be relevant to the show but fair warning.

Spoiler

it’s heavily influenced by The house of M storyline for one - in that Wanda actually rids the marvel universe of mutants - I think this is going the opposite way

@MansizeRooster I read your spoiler, assuming it was about the episode. But in your last line you mentioned something. Which if not speculation, is a FUCKING SPOILER FROM THE COMICS. Please don't do that. Some people in here don't know the history or lore.

THE SHOW IS NOT BASED ON A COMIC. THERE ARE NO COMIC SPOILERS.

There is, literally, a Marvel comic about Wanda and Vision, called Wandavision.

That said, I believe Rooster was just speculating, and I like that theory, so allow me to speculate further...

Spoiler

Agnes is Loki.

I'll raise you and speculate that

Nice, but how?

Edit:

Spoiler

Of course, Vision is part Ultron!

Really enjoyed that. Thought the rest has been good but this episode ramps it up hugely.

Otherwise

Spoiler

I like how Vis is basically becoming 'that guy' who picks apart the lack of internal consistency in shows.

"How do we know if anyone ever goes to the toilet if we dont see it?" etc

Also, this is why you never work with kids or animals.

And the ending was basically this:

Well, Ultron and Vision are definitely linked to each other and Sword were doing stuff to Vision's corpse. Ultron somehow regained access to the Internet that way and away he went. I also think Agnes is controlling everything, not Wanda but still think Ultron could be behind Agnes.

Loki has no link to Wanda or Vision whilst Ultron has strong connections to them both.

I'm also suspicious why we're all being recommended to watch Age of Ultron too...

That's not something that I personally know from the comics, but cheers for confirming that that's what it is, thereby spoiling this show.

Could it not be Mephisto? Tying into Dr. Strange 2?

Spoiler

I keep seeing this bandied about but nothing in the program has pointed towards that character being introduced. It just seems like wild wishful thinking.

Also RE:Vision

Spoiler

He's not acting like he was before he got brained. He's very emotional, much more than he's shown in the movies. Is that Wanda projecting on him or other?

Very clever.

Spoiler

Agnes is clearly Agnes.

I can’t believe anyone thinks they’re going to introduce a new character at the last minute who is the antagonist. Well, I can believe that people are unread enough to think that, but I wish people stopped treating shows like ARGs with dialogue.

Spoiler

Without the mind stone he’s not really Vision - the computer part is there but what made him appear human is gone - Wanda is obviously filling in the blanks from what she wants him to be but the logical part of the machine is what’s fighting for control and reality.

Out of interest, during the credits where Disney+ recommend something else to watch, is everyone being recommended Age of Ultron?

Just wondering if that's Marvel doing something meta as well, particularly with the speculation that

Ultron

may be somewhat involved.

They started recommending Age of Ultron after Episode 3 aired, because that’s the first one that mentions Ultron, Pietro, and Wanda’s backstory in that movie.

Spoiler

And also he’s missing like, half his brain. Thanos didn’t exactly do surgery. I wonder if any Vision exists without Wanda’s memories filling the gaps.

So this is where all the (future MCU speculation about casting)

Spoiler

Universes collide, Holland's Spiderman ends up working with Maguire and Garfield versions to stop Doc Oc/Electro/Vulture with Doctor Strange and Doctor Strange ends up going up against Wanda in his second film to stop all the realities colliding. This is how Marvel bring the X-Men into the fold.

All speculation, but it seems to fit give that :omg:ending.

Spoiler

HOW DARE PEOPLE REFER TO THE XMEN FILMS?

that’s just unfairly spoilering things by bringing in stuff that isn’t necessarily in continuity.

Just like mentioning comics that may or may not be relevant as part of their speculation.

If you don’t want to mention any broader cultural context or background when talking about comic book stories, the best of which historically riff on one another and gain depth as you do so, may I suggest you go and make your own thread.

also that you read some comics, and watch some more films.

rather than censoring speculation, in a show that’s deliberately set up for such speculation.

Spoiler

And that is deliberately expecting such speculation amongst half the fan base.

Uh huh. As I said, I don't know the lore, you clearly do, whether from comics or not. You are referencing a plot point, from wherever. Not guessing at a theory, don't turn this back on me, that's a bit scummy. :(
