I'm just glad it will run at 60fps at 4K on the series X. It's been far too long since I played the trilogy and these three games should keep me busy for some time.

think it will be 120fps on series X. :coffee:

Isn't it not at 4K though when it's running at 120?

If 4K60 is a compromise mode then you're in for a long generation.

But this was developed two gens ago though! Maybe they have done more to the visuals than I expect? That would be great. I thought with no ray tracing the series X would fucking crush this at maximum everything.

Well that’s a bunch of bollocks in that case. Lol. why does an uprezzed 360 game need a compromise mode two generations later? Bunch of bollocks.

Its not just an “uprezzed”port, they’ve reworked everything.

Anyone wanting to stream this may want to give it a second thought, looks like Warner Bros have the rights to the music in the games, and are having videos on YouTube pulled for copyright or some bullshit.

I know it’ll run better via backward compatibility but have they announced whether a PS5/X version is coming?

Regarding a next gen version:

Quote

"To me if I'm buying a game on this next-generation of hardware, I expect a lot from it, and I think it's more than what we could have pushed [Unreal Engine 3] to do, and again more than we could've done with a true remaster," he said. "To me it would have felt a little disingenuous. I think it's better suited for the next Mass Effect."

Regarding a patch for when it's on next gen consoles:

Quote

"We'll wait and see," he said. "But we have some targeted unleashing of the game so that it will leverage a little bit more power of the next-gen series beyond just the faster load times you'd expect from SSD. There are some things that'll let you get to higher framerates, keep resolution higher, and stuff like that. So it should be a more optimized experience, but at this point nothing in the future."

It does feel weird doing a remaster for last gen but my main interest is just getting all the near impossible to purchase together DLC into one trilogy.

Now that we’re 6 months in, it definitely does. I don’t really want to install a 100GB PS4 game, as it’ll be a nightmare to update on PS5 SSD. PS5 games are supposed to require less space too.

I’m tempted by this. Never got on Mass Effect 1, loved 2 and never really got into 3.

Hopefully the changes to 1 will make it seem vaguely playable now.

I wonder if this might be £20 before the end of the year though.

Exactly me - 1 was unplayable on the 360, absolutely rinsed 2, 3 came too soon after and didn't get stuck in

I'll be sitting this out until I see reviews and performance.

I read somewhere its 100+GB install

I'm wanting this on Series X but I'm happy to wait until the performance is checked. Hopefully there won't be too many major issues. This time around I'm renegade all the way through (ME1 I was paragon) and I'm taking things how they fall. For ME2 I followed a guide on how to keep everyone alive. This time nobody is safe. Also Ashley gets to live this time.

Thankfully my internet speeds are fast enough to download the game super quick if initial reviews are good.

You can actually preload the game via the Xbox mobile app, even if you don't own it. It's a handy feature, albeit a bit inconsistent in my experience; sometimes it works fine, others it's refused to work.

That's a point. Well done MS. I'll give that a go.

*Edit* Nah. Nothing. Last time I tried this the game installed for me on launch day. That would be fine anyway but I'm looking at between 300-400meg downloads from MS servers so no worries.

I'm super hyped for this. Can't wait to play through them all again

I have a small dilemma in that I'm not sure whether to get this on PC or PS5. It's all down to HDR. PS5 HDR is the absolutely fucking business, and shits all over my PC's HDR, but will this game even have proper HDR? I'm not convinced.

Why would there be any performance issues with a last-gen remaster of a previous-gen game running on new-gen hardware?

It's EA. I'm assuming nothing.

As a promo, they're giving a way an 88-track trilogy soundtrack, and art books and comics from the old ME2 and ME3 deluxe editions.

Thanks for that! I've also spent a bit too long using the EA artwork generator to make a personal 4K artwork of my favourite characters. It's pretty cool, well, I like it.

There's no artwork for it so the artwork generator is a great way to create your own custom coverart for the 88 track trilogy soundtrack EA are giving away.

I was going to wait for a discount but the hype is getting to me and the back half of DQ 11 can wait a while longer. I'll be playing in a base PS4 so if it is janky I'll pass it off as just adding to the nostalgia.

 Wrong.  I finished the game six times on the 360 and loved every second.

Thankfully they've fixed the requirements for the companion achievements in this release so you only need to do five missions with each.

Also I've downloaded the soundtrack and listened to Vigil on repeat for half an hour.

I was going to question why anyone would ever choose to let the Space Nazi live, but then this way she doesn't get to become a glorious martyr to the cause, so I can sort of get behind this. I'm still going to kill her off though because ugh.

I was leaning towards PC for the fps as if the XBS can get 120 my PC will certainly be able to but I hadn't considered the HDR, I'm intrigued now. I also don't want origin, sick of having so many game launcher apps.
