I never played any of the DLC originally, how much single player content (hours wise) is new for me to experience in this bundle?

Also, how is it implemented? Are they just additional quests that trigger at a certain story point?

There is A LOT of content, especially in ME2, I think it has another, what, ten hours or so of content on top of the 30-hour main campaign? It’s all optional stuff that’ll seamlessly pop up as you play the game, or after you finish up the game (Arrival in ME2 for sure happens after the main story).

So it turns out that this looks absolutely fantastic. Actually that might be a bit much. It looks crisp as hell and runs beautifully. The HDR is good HDR too.

current settings +4 HDR contrast and 1500 nits HDR brightness

the game just crashed to dashboard on Eden prime. I hope this isn’t a big problem….

Currently singing

Hey hey

Ho ho

Kaiden Alenko has got to go

Just played 2 hours of ME1 and for a newbie, it’s utterly superb and loving it. Those 2 hours have flown by and that’s always a good sign! Can see me getting addicted to this very quickly! :D

Looks great too using quality mode on Series X.

You have so much amazing stuff to enjoy. :D

I just watched the first 30 or so minutes of Mass Effect 3 on PS5, and I have to say I'm impressed. Texture work, lighting, depth of field, reflections, all a step up from the original and even the modded PC version I played last year.

From what little I've seen it looks like a very respectful, tastefully done remaster. Now to see if @Harrisown is right about the HDR. Not that I don't believe you, of course. ;)

The little Calibration tool in game is exactly what you want. It’s clear. “Adjust setting until icon is INVISIBLE” none of this “barely visible” nonsense.

My tv is rated as 1500 nits peak brightness and it just so happens thats  the value the icon disappears at. So on that I can only assume they might have actually done it properly.

Also I think the HDR brightness setting balances it out nicely and made a noticeable difference when I calibrated it. Makes me think all the video footage we’ve seen wasn’t entirely what you might see when playing the game for yourself.

Just got off Eden prime.

Some of the cut scenes haven't aged that well. It looks a little over dramatic because the audio ist quite fleshed out enough to give the impression of chaos.

Gun sound are fecking loud as hell too.

What an achievement this game is though.

The voice acting still stands out as best in class. It makes up for the dodgy lip sync too.

Just met the Volos in the citidel. It’s all coming back to me now.

Anyone have this on PC? How is the performance? Those comments on HDR have made me consider getting it on PS5 instead of PC like I intend to.

I'd love to tell you, but in a now regular occurrence, CD Keys are slacking on releasing the fucking keys to download the game. With my current download speeds I anticipate it'll be the week end before I play the damn thing.

Edit: Oh, I take it back a bit - 4pm activation on Origin in the UK...bollocks. I'll have to pretend to do something productive now.

Just a heads up for anyone that bought the game from Eneba for xbox. You can still claim the 6000 microsoft reward points on the eneba code. I essentially got the game for £25. :)

Just finished Eden Prime and had to go to sleep otherwise I wouldn’t have got up for work! It looks surprisingly incredible to be honest, 4K 60 is majestic!

My one and only problem is they retain the weird instant transition from cutscenes/dialogue to gameplay. Super jarring, but honestly it really is fantastic!

What's the cheapest option for this on PC? Origin have it for £55 but I know it can be had cheaper, has to be.

Well, I got it from CDKeys a while back when it was £35, but in the last few days they've slowly crept the price up day by day - it's around £42 now I think. I suspect if you can hold out for a couple of weeks the price will drop back down again. However, even at the £40-ish mark that's a whole lot of good value I think.

PS4 version downloaded. I completed my original 360 run as FemShep so it'll be DudeShep for the remastered version, default look because I get crippling indecision using character creators and the lowest difficulty level because I don't play ME games for the challenge.

Its on EA Play Pro on Origin which is £15 a month so if you just want to play it that’s the cheapest option (lack of ownership aside etc), I’m actually doing the sub for a few months as they are also getting Biomutant on release in a couple

of weeks and  have the Amular remaster on there too. I only tend to play games through once and if i fancy another play through in a couple of years it will be buttons by then.

CD keys have it for £39.99 (although it was £35 for quite a few weeks pre release) and slightly cheaper at a few less trustworthy key resellers.

Anyway 4pm unlock Origin!!! There goes my plan of downloading this afternoon to play when I finish work...grrrr

Sod it I'm caving and getting the PS version as I have £20 in amazon vouchers which makes it £35 in my mind and it'll be delivered tomorrow, plus the HDR stuff I can always pick it up on PC later on if I so want.

Playing on my PS5, this is pretty awesome. I played it originally on the 360 and this is even better than my fallible brain remembers it. It just plays really great, the loadtimes are neglible, the graphics hold up and the design is still awesome. Being back in the Mass Effect universe again is just what I needed with one week left before submitting my final paper in my bachelor's degree.:D

What format are you playing on?

Coming not long off the back of Andromeda, I'm finding the controls to be a bit clunky in ME1. Not sure if they improve in the other games. It just feels like it could all do with custom remapping. I mostly missing having running toggled on a stick click. I think I have to hold down A to for it, so can't control the camera. And I'd wish there was an option to stop the skip dialogue button from selecting stuff in the wheel. (oh, and doesn't seem to be an option to see the controls in game ... is it hiding?)

I've only seen Eden Prime too but I'm not blown away by the graphics yet. Again, compared to Andromeda's sand, snow, etc ... it just looks like some shiny rocks on a mud texture. It looks ugly for a xbox one game, never mind any 4k stepping up.

Combat seems tougher and cover doesn't seem as good. I died a couple of times defusing the bombs. Had a couple of times there swapping weapon where my character came out of cover, then I'd get shot! Clearly a bug as it's not consistent.

This is just first impressions, I'm sure I'll get into a groove and love it. If I can do it with Andromeda, I can do it with this!

I’ve never really been convinced about their chat about letting characters die, given that everyone has a direct substitute - particularly in ME3 where you do these big, character-specific missions and there’s basically cardboard cutout version of the character that gets swapped in with the same race, background and general goals, who does all the things they would’ve done and says some not very interesting lines.

I don’t think you should expect to be blown away by the graphics of any of these, they’re literally Xbox 360 games upgraded to 4K.

Ah really, that's it? Thanks a LOT I was going to pull the trigger on this today but you've saved me from doing so.

Yeah I’m only interested if it’s a significant graphical upgrade. Seems that’s not the case

Nope, not a significant one at all but it was never suggested it was going to be. The updated textures and a few rejigged gameplay elements are more than enough for me though.

First impressions for me I would say a smooth 60 frames at 4K with new textures and a very well implemented HDR plus the UI, gameplay and control improvements for ME1 and then all the DLC and premium content all wrapped up make a pretty sweet package.

The only big issue is that I've gone for Vanguard yet again

Someone convince me to try something different. They've improved the various classes ability to use all weapons so it might be fun to try Engineer or Infiltrator but man, can I play Mass Effect without biotic charge...not sure its possible.
