My only console pre-order with Amazon. And my last. Absolute bunch of twats.

 

After being assured on chat it was still coming today by 10pm (at six pm and not being dispatched) the guy tried to refund me and cancel the order!!!! Cut to me to screaming at him not to - just update on when I would get it. He couldn’t even tell me which warehouse in the world it was located, let alone when it might turn up. So fuck knows. Amazon certainly don’t.


Amazon really are the pits at this pre order stuff. 
 

Did Game deliver for people in the end? That’s who I have my PS5 order with. Don’t fancy this shit again.

It’s possible that it went crazy as a reaction to the pre-order demand and requested an overly inflated quantity of consoles which Microsoft were unable to supply, then had to try and cut back the Amazon order as best they could using the allocation available.

In that case it's still their fuckup. Microsoft won't have just told them they had infinite stock to supply on launch day. If Amazon's algorithm decided to go crazy and request more than Microsoft allotted them, and Amazon sold that many as preorders, they'd have known well before now that they couldn't meet the demand. 

 

Either way it's not "because of high demand" like it's something unexpected. They've known for months how many consoles they sold. It's not like they've just turned up at Microsoft's warehouse today with a shopping list that says "4000 Series X" but there's only 250 in stock.

I doubt it's that. I think they probably just screwed up the "getting the consoles out mid-week" when it's not prime week: they're relatively heavy bits of kit, and there's a lot of them being shipped out.

According to the DPD tracking my Currys Series X went to France early this morning and has remained there ever since. :blink2:

 

I’ll do nothing tonight as I’m in no particular hurry but I’ll need to get a refund. Anyone ever had to get something refunded from Currys? Even though Amazon are their usual console clusterfuck launch specialists at least you know getting a refund is painless.

I went through their stupid online chat bot. If you ignore anything it says and type in "let me talk to a human" they'll offer to call you. I then spoke to a woman on the phone.

yes, arrived at 10am and just left on the doorstep, no signing or anything.

 

would have preferred better packaging, but it was ok. Good emails, and kept me informed.
