PlayStation 5 stock alerts

Yeah, I was on the Discord stock channel having a wee look as the notification dropped, so got very lucky I think.  And I was just starting to question if I really needed one...

If and when they do drop again, using smile.amazon.co.uk really seemed to make it all go very smoothly.

It was probably less than 5 seconds from getting the stockinformer telegram alert to hitting add to basket but still no luck.

Same. Constant "we're sorry but something has gone wrong" messages. Never even had a chance to get it into the basket.

I think that's where people are going wrong - like Triple A said, don't just add it to the basket from the product page (as silly as that may sound). Try searching for it and add it there through the results page instead, or try the app, or try using the smile website. Just because it doesn't work from the product page that doesn't mean it won't work with other methods. It sounds dumb but it's true.

Searching just brings up a list though. You still have to click on the item as there is no price or means to add directly to the basket and that just puts you in back in the 'not working' phase.

I think a lot is browser or a/b testing dependent. Certainly I don't get an option on Chrome/iOS (any method, smile etc.) to add directly from search results listings, for any item.

Dunno if it makes any difference or not, but I got the Digital Foundry Deals tweet notification on my phone and after seeing the Amazon Smile thing mentioned on here earlier and quickly typed smile.amazon.co.uk into the address bar. I then just added the PS5 to my basket and bought as I would any ‘normal’ item. No errors or anything. Just super smooth.

The smiles thing may have helped (I'll be using it if I ever get the chance again) but the digital PS5 is definitely less popular than the stock version so that may have eased the process for you.

I was also using the Amazon.smile website on my phone this morning, and managed to successfully buy the PS5 disc version.

So it’s definitely a good tip to try the smile website next time.

I got one on Amazon, add to basket wouldn’t work at all but I had one saved from previously.

I moved that from save for later to my basket and just checked out.

Might be worth adding one to saved items if you can for next time. Good luck!

Have one in the basket, £679.99 with a bunch of games I don’t want and third-party cables and docking station I don’t want.

Y’know what, I’ll wait.

Yeah don't pay for a load of tat you don't need, Simplygames' bundles are the worst.

Obviously there's a big drop in the UK at the minute, hold out hope for Argos and Curry's probably? I think they're the two big retailers left who haven't dropped any stock the past week. Maybe Very also.

I stopped chasing websites to avoid creating accounts for multiple retailers - a PS5 is not worth that hassle imo. So Smyth's, they have all my details from previous purchases so checking out should be smooth sailing. Discord notifications are set and ready to go :excl:

I could be wrong but Very strikes me as the kind of console stockist that is doing this as a complete afterthought, used by 'Karens' to largely ensure that their kiddywinks get everything in life that they want. Probably more hardcore than any of us right now and more than prepared to sit down for the next 48 hours to ensure that they don't miss a good fight in what will probably be a really good queue simulator. You'll need an ships oar to prize them away from a screen to miss this at half term.

I got my Pro and PSVR on launch day from Very - they were excellent to be honest.
