I think it was like this for Amazon which was checking for the word "Unavailable" and setting off an alarm if it can't find it.

Is that even legit?

I know they had a site called Tescopreorders.com which looked dodgy but was informed it was genuine. 
Not sure why they would register a new domain and make a new site.

I suppose I could ask and see if anything g has come down on the system.

 

I know some guy went into an extra and just randomly asked if they had any xboxes and they did.

 

EDIT: apparently if it asks you for any financial information then it’s dodgy. The entire transaction will eventually be done in store.

It's not random. It counts down to 0 then sets window.location.href to refresh.

It's also not a queue (well it could be, based off IP address, but that'd be more work than I imagine they could be bothered to do).

Yep, that's what I meant - no actual queue, just retries based on when people first load the page (which is the randomness I meant)

 

My phone is refreshing slightly faster than my laptop as it takes ever-so-slightly less time to render the page and restart the timer - I started them offset by 15 seconds and they're almost in sync now.

 

...aaaand... sold out.  Anyone get one?

Looks like they're sold out though, so obviously made sense for some people...

 

By my maths that's about £40-50 over Amazon/RRP prices for the privilege of just being able to buy the damn thing?  I'd probably have gone for it if it had worked, with the hope of being able to sell Sackboy and Demon Souls on without taking the wrappers off.

 

Oh and then there was delivery on top unless you're local enough to go and pickup.
