Turn your Xbox Series S, X or Xbox One into a fantastic emulation machine.

It runs Global Defense Force upscaled and it looks stunning. But it's a pre-release emulators and half the options in the settings page are blank, so when you try and jump/shoot at once it takes you to the emulator menu.  R1 and L1 at the same time, with no option to change that.

Early days though.  It's pretty remarkable. Gradius 5 in 1080p looks pin sharp.

This upload doesn't seem to have any options for remapping controls, which is a bit of a problem as I can't currently press L1/R1 without bringing up the quickmenu.

ive modded the pcsx2 ini file so that menu is now opened by pressing start and back - ive also enabled a 2nd joypad - you can grab my ini file here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kl5veG1XyXeMunYgwoFS5vptG_mN8auy/view?usp=sharing

Where does the ini file go? I have most stuff on a a usb stick - is it in there?

you need to ftp on the xbox and go to the following path (well this is how it is on mine) /LOCALFOLDER/60206domapps.19890EACA508A_yzhahmc55dm1c/LocalState/inis

and then replace the ini file in there with mine

There's a PS2 standalone screen tear fix.  Grab the INI file from the Google drive link. Replace it as explained a few posts earlier.   Then, if you don't get any graphics at all, change your resolution to 1080p and also change to direct X 11.  Looks so amazing. Gradius 5 is now rock solid and the colours and incredible.

Don't forget to rename the file to match the one you're replacing.

Top tip.  Sega Rally 95, the Japan bonus disk, can be played brilliantly on PS2 stand alone.  You have to start the iso loading, then immediately press Y and A and hold them. Then you'll get a hidden menu for Progressive Mode.  Select that and you'll be playing in full colour 50fps.  Also pressing select on the title screen brings up extra screen modes now.  Enjoy!

If it doesn't work, change the renderer to "Software" and follow the process again.  Once it works for the first time you can save to memory card and won't need to faff in future.

@dumpster tried sega rally this morning but it keeps displaying the main graphics in black and white (text and hud etc are all in Color fine) tried all the above but still black and white - any ideas?

Funny you should say that. Same problem for me today after playing fine yesterday.  However I noticed I have 2 versions. One is a DVD iso, the other is Bin and Cue.  On Xbox, I use the Bin/Cue with PCSX2 stand alone, with Direct X 12 as the renderer, and selecting progressive scan from the hidden menu on loading.  But it's strange - the DVD version plays perfectly in black and white so I can't blame a bad ISO file - but the Bin/Cue works.  I... Erm... Can't remember how I created these Isos from my legally purchased original CDs erm.. yes.  But see if you can find a bin cue version.

This whole conversation started when someone on here posted you need to switch your renderer to Software.  But for me, doing that on Xbox resulted in the game running black and white and also really slowly.  A further Google, inspired by that post turned up this hidden progressive scan mode and that worked first time for me.  If you gain any insight please share.

@dumpster ok software render and progressive scan seemed to be the combo for me to get it to work this time (tried this earlier and it didnt) - next question  is there anyway to save the individual configs per game ie softer remder for rally dx11/12 for others? similar to what you can do in retroarch

I think, in this alpha, pre release version, probably not.  Probably worth asking on the discord.  I linked to it a few posts back I think

From the Discord:

Here are the steps of saving each game as an individual setting that will load automatically when boot without messing with the PCSX2.ini file or worrying about your gloabal setting.

1. you need to get the serial and CRC numbers for each game. Here are the file names for the three Jak games in NTSC USA. *For Pal and other region, you'll need to go to the PCSX2 officail site to get the information.

Jak 1: SCUS-97124_472E7699
Jak 2: SCUS-97265_9184AAF1
Jak 3: SCUS-97330_644CFD03

2. Now save each individual file with a notepad on your PC as an .ini file. For example, Jak 1 will be saved as SCUS-97330_644CFD03.ini (MAKE SURE these have the .ini extension and not a .txt extension)

3. Inside each .ini file, copy and paste this and saved

[EmuCore]
EnablePerGameSettings = true

[EmuCore/GS]
UserHacks = true
UserHacks_AutoFlush = true
UserHacks_TextureInsideRt = true

UserHacks_SkipDraw_Start = 1
UserHacks_SkipDraw_End = 1

4. place the saved .ini file(s) inside the LOCALFOLDER/PCSX2 folder/LocalState/gamesettings

and that is it. you should be set.

@dumpsternot sure what kind of witchcraft you're using, but Sega Rally doesn't render in colour unless I use software rendering.

We need someone to create a model 2 emulator next.

I'm confused.  I'm getting different results every time.  However it seems with the new anti-screentear in file, you can still access the menus.  It's triange and select at the same time.  If I start the game with software render it's black and white.  But if I start the game then access the settings menu for the emulator and change it to software it works.  It's like, start the game with the faults, THEN change settings to software to fix it.

Also, Burnout 2 looks beautiful upscaled,  and I'm so glad I chose Xbox for this generation.

I tried the Moonlight client today, to stream Motorstorm Pacific Rift from RPCS3 on my laptop. After a slight settings change to increase the throughput and resolution to 1080p it ran gloriously.

20 minute setup from start to finish (including installing RPCS3!).

I’m thinking I need another Series S for the bedroom now.. 🤣
