Recommend me a Baking Book

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, as it's that time of year my I'm looking at getting my brother's other half a Christmas present. She's just gotten into baking, doing scones and minced pies and cakes and the like. Can anyone recommend me a good baking book that'll make BBC Good Food look like a big old pile of shite? Cheers!

Mary Berry as mentioned already, it’s very good and the recipes work.

Id also recommend what to bake and how to bake it by Jane Hornby. Incredibly clear instruction with helpful photos. Everything we’ve ever made from all of her books has worked really well which is more than I can say for most recipe books.

Not available right now, but I did enjoy reading through this the last couple of months: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1681885670/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is focused a lot more on chocolate, but does include a lot of very good cake recipes in it too along with the mousses, creams, and ganaches: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Encyclopedia-Chocolate-Frédéric-Chocolat-Valrhona/dp/2080203665/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=valrhona+chocolate+book&qid=1608691233&s=books&sr=1-1  (the rum & honey chocolate cake contained within is pretty amazing)
