Re the Tuskens

Spoiler

Obviously the chief's dead as it showed him, and I think we're supposed to assume the kid's dead as I think that was his stick that Boba threw on the fire last. But I don't think we saw Cool Long Black Dreads Warrior Tusken among the corpses so I think they survived. And I predict they'll be in the final showdown in the "present day" storyline fighting alongside Boba on his Rancor, the kids from Fame on their Mos Vespas, and (inevitably) Black Krrsantan who has a new-found respect for his former target.

Nope I am right with you.

Loving it so far & while I preferred episode 2 which I thought was awesome, I had no major beef with this latest episode.  The Wookie fight and the Rancor  scene alone made the episode worthwhile.

Is it just me who thought episode 3 was awesome then...?

I thought it was great apart from the Mos Vespas (yes I'm going to keep calling them that). Apart from them being a bit rubbish in and of themselves, it felt like the first time anything in Star Wars has come across as such a direct parody of a real-world equivalent. Their shiny metallic Space Lambrettas just don't fit in with the Star Wars vehicle aesthetic - everything is usually matt finished and banged up (apart from obvious exceptions like Padme's cruiser) and I wouldn't expect a street gang on Tatooine to have the only pristine vehicles in the universe other than royal yachts. The shot of the one with all the mirrors was a nice visual gag but it was just too on the nose and didn't fit with the tone of Star Wars, which is a real surprise as that's one thing both Mando and this have got spot on so far.

I'd have been much more on board with them in an episode of Doctor Who than this.

Yeah, Boba's going to get

Spoiler

an army of rejects together to fight, isn't he? Which is going to be the most George Lucas thing ever

I think early on in development they thought "Boba Fett's an outlaw, but we want him to be the hero. So who's a heroic outlaw we can nick ideas get inspiration from?"

And the answer is of course Robin Hood. The whole series is him assembling his Merry Men (and women and aliens) before taking on the corrupt and evil Sheriff Mayor of Nottingham Mos Espa.

So what was the deal with Bib Fortuna?

spacer.png

Female twi'leks have always been sexy waifu bait for nerds. But Bib had a monster face. I always assumed that's just what the males looked like. But now they're just normal looking dudes with some colour make-up. Was Bib his species' equivalent of the Elephant Man?

Bib was a genuinely terrifying character for me as a child. I remember getting the action figure and thinking he looked like something from Hellraiser (I suppose the white make up helps).

I agree though, other male Twi'leks we have seen since are far less monstrous that Bib. His pale white skin, extremely bumpy head, long head tails and pinky reddish eyes all seem unique to him. The only other Twi'lek that comes close is Orn Free Taa, who's corpulence adds to the monster factor (but otherwise is a bit of a buffoon). I think they dialled back the monster aspect of Twi'leks in the animated Clone Wars (for kids/to make the audience more sympathetic to their situation?) and that has stuck since.

Not necessarily.

A real world comparison might be the Sapeurs, who take great pride in dressing up in their finest despite living in some of the poorest slums of Africa.

They should have had an after credits scene of a destitute family of moisture farmers weeping as they wonder how they'll survive the month because someone gave away their harvest to a bunch of pricks one of whom boasted how much he spent on a robot eye.

Speaking of which the moment where they had to patiently explain why water is worth more on a desert planet and Boba Fett goes but I grew up on a water planet and it was free there, was a real Homer Simpson moment.

Not some polite dimbo with the whitest teeth in the outer rim.

Haha! There's something quite incongruous about the sand people flashbacks where he's all beaten up, partially sarlacc digested and missing his eyebrows, and then he opens his mouth and and shows off a set of pearly whites that look like they've come straight out of a Beverly Hills orthodontist.

Yeah not liking the new look of the Twi'leks. Bib scared the shit out of me when I was younger, reminded from something from Clive Barker Nighbreed.

Also no a fan of the new Hamorrean  Guards , wish they had their battle Axe and fur

Well that reached some real highs and lows didn’t it?

Spoiler

That Wookiee is a boss.

Then Danny fucking Trejo turns up with a fucking baby rancor.

Almost too much awesome.

And then the fucking modded mods and their fucking vespers, right down to the profusion of mirrors. And the worst chase scene ever created, in a universe built on its vehicular action.

Just one of the worst things I’ve seen in anything Star Wars.

I think I’d rather watch Jake Lloyd’s audition tape than see those fucking idiots again.

I was all in, after two eps. But I’m seriously worried where this is heading.

Bad

Spoiler

The mods were terrible. Totally out of place in the universe and some English boy calling Boba "mate". Rubbish.

Stupid chase scene with shit comedy.

The Jackie Chan project A bike chase scene is a lot better and cost a lot less.

Rubbish end.

Good

Spoiler

Badass Wookie is back! He was always one to watch wasn't he. Fucking wicked.

Finally

I had a feeling about us seeing Luke in Mando. This time it is being set up for...

Spoiler

We are going to get flash back scenes that include Obi Wan. It's nailed on for sure. All those flashbacks to his dad flying away? And we were shown the death scene aftermath previously too.

Ewan is going to whet his whistle again here! It may be the final episode or so, to lead into Obi Wan series. Put money on it!

There's a running gag in Toast of Tinseltown where whoever Toast boasts to about being cast in a Star Wars film immediately coughs and goes 'Sure' under their breath. I feel like the characters should be doing it everytime Boba Fett grandly declares they he's Daim Bar of Tatooine.

Agree with that

Spoiler

I don’t get what people liked about the wookie. His plan was to sneak into Boba’s bedroom while he’s defenceless and then wake him up for a bout of WWE wrestling. That’s it. Throw him around a bit. Great, good work wookie.

They should have just made John Wick mixed with Old Man Logan in space. Hit placed on Boba from the syndicate, different bounty hunters are gunning after him . Some for the prestige of catching the famous Boba Fett, the others because of bad blood.

literally about to kill Boba before the others attacked him.

Also he looks cool as fuck, which if Boba Fett has taught us anything, you can live off that for 30+ years.

I hate the fact they rescued him and it looked like they were doing an OK job. They would have been ripped apart otherwise.
