New track from Chvrches featuring Robert Smith:

This is way better than the previous song released from the new album, He Said She Said. Looking forward to hearing more from the new album, Screen Violence, which is out this summer.

I just came to post this. It's really good! I was so surprised.

Great:

I’m no Chvrches fan but that was a decent pop song if nothing special. Although an absolutely dreadful waste of Robert Smith throughout who was nothing more than a cameo backup vocalist.

The new Wolf Alice album out today is picking up extremely good reviews, pretty much a 5 star blitz. I’ve not listened to it but I’m definitely going to check it out later as I quite like them and they were great at this years Glastonbury live stream thingy, and Last Man on Earth is rather beautiful.

Every Churches single sounds like the song a band would fart out as the bonus track for the Japanese release.  Even Bobby Smith can't make them interesting.

Musical taste gatekeeping is so cool.

I guess the comparison to the stuff you do like implied it to me, but I'm not going for an argument and I would definitely enjoy a chat about music with you IRL.

There was no comparison to anything that I can see. I think sometimes it’s difficult when you really like something and someone else says, that’s crap, but I wouldn’t read too much into it, my wife dislikes pretty much everything I listen to 😆

I genuinely don't get Churches*, but yeah, I probably don't need to express that just when people are happy they have new music out. Like 90% of the stuff I listen to is nonsense so it's not coming from any sense of superiority.

*I'm still not doing their SEO spelling, though.

You never did report back on that Ulcerate album, @Quest. What did you think of it in the end?

Oh, I liked it so much I bought it, but it's taking forever to reach me in China. Been so long I've kinda forgotten everything about it. Will have to refresh my thoughts when it turns up.

It's still my favourite metal record form last year. Enjoy it when it shows up.

Ooh Wolf Alice is really quite good, Ellie Rowsell’s voice throughout is wonderful, a proper breath of fresh air.

Yeah just caught the video on YouTube. Great track.

A live version of How Can I Make It Ok? Which I believe is the next single and certainly one of the most immediate tracks on the album, traces of Haim and a bit of (Hounds of Love era) Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, it really is excellent as is the album as a whole. Didn’t think I’d be gushing about this record as much as I am but it’s such a well rounded brilliant work I could talk about it all day.

The new Wolf Alice album has that thing that some great albums do, where each song gets into your belly and has your heart soaring.

It's a bit good. Doesn't have many immediate bangers but each song has that lifting energy to your soul.

Yeah it's ace. Early shout for rllmuk album of the year I reckon. It's got that thing after a few listens where it's varied enough that a new track starts and you go "ooh yeah it's this one!" and then you realise you've done it for the whole album.
