Same idea as for video gaming in Discussion, anyone up for tracking how much board gaming truly costs them?  If nothing else, it'll be good to see what others are buying for idea, etc.

I've *got* to discourage my spending this year.  So I'll track mine here.  Public Shame will be the motivator that keeps me on the straight and narrow.

 

So far: £30 on backing Alba on Kickstarter.  (It isn't boardgame per se, it's a glorified choose your own adventure book, vut it'll count in my "analogue gaming spending" tally).

 

Unusually, I have actually *sold* something too. (Dominare) for £25, so net spend is not too bad.

I've played it a few times both in real life before last March and online on TTS since - I knew it would go down well with my only gaming buddy nowadays my 9yr old who is animal daft. The expansions I hadn't played but looking around they add more to the game without too much complexity and the newest one actually re-balances the game a bit.

I haven't played a great deal yet as my wife is not very patient at learning new games, but I'll have to take a look at the expansions if and when it does click with her.  I thought they were purely extra cards for the different regions, not rule tweaks as well.

This is a safe place right? No judgement? I'm gonna do this as a way of keeping track myself, I know I spend far too much on games and want to cut it down, maybe doing this will be a way to see exactly what I spend on a monthly basis.

I got it in the Travelling Man sale, in the few days they managed to open between Christmas and lockdown. It would have been £20, but I had a pound on my loyalty card.

 

Technically it was still in 2020, but I'm counting it as this year.

Preordered Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver for Marvel Champions for £26.60 which brings January's total up to £739.34 

 

I'm done for the month and dont have intentions of picking up any new games for the foreseeable future, Kickstarters should hopefully see me through the next few months as at least a couple are due each month. I will preorder whatever Marvel Champions stuff comes out though and i really need to order a whole bunch of mayday premium sleeves for it as i started sleeving it in FFG sleeves and they no longer exist but otherwise I'm hopefully done for a while.

 

Fingers crossed nothing exciting comes to kickstarter!

I really daren't post in this thread even though the year has started quite well as I've sold quite a number of games here and elsewhere and even managed to not immediately spend the paypal balance on new games.

 

I have bought Thousand Year Old Vampire, Those Dark Places RPG book and backed 2 Kickstarters, Darwin's Voyage and Carnegie, but I don't think any of that counts really.

Where did you get this @jonnyalpha, if you don't mind me asking? I'd only seen it direct from the creators site but the shipping from the US was killing it for me...

@GlasgowchivasI got it from 3rd Space Gaming. They appear to be out of stock at the moment but are getting another batch in. I've not used them before but the book was very well packaged and arrived very quickly.
