Kari Skogland is directing this and she has a rather large and diverse resume.  A really good choice on paper to pick up from the Winter Soldier/Civil War themes.  I'm a bit more interested than I was.

(Which was not that interested from the trailers but happy to be surprised)

I’ll give this a chance but I feel like it’s the opposite of Wandavision. That show is two characters who I enjoyed in the movies and gave good performances but I never got quite enough of, whereas this is two characters who I feel like I’ve already seen more of than I want to because they’re boring. I’ll give it a shot because Daniel Bruhl is awesome but I’m not expecting much.

That was ok. I quite liked the bits with their personal lives. The action at the start was awful, so shaky and confusing. I also think it’s funny that after Wandavision there were a few people being like “she’s not a real hero because she controlled some peoples minds”, but this is all out murder that’s fun and cool because AMERICA. I did feel conflicted about what Wanda did, whereas Sam slaughtering 30 people because they kidnapped one guy I don’t, it’s straight up horrible. Seems really weird to be going for a “Bucky feels bad because he did bad Russian murders” whilst at the exact same time having Sam killing a bunch of people and we’re supposed to cheer.

Bets on now, the guy in the silly mask who knocked out Sam’s friend is the new Captain America.

Wyatt really should keep his beard.

I think having the helmet on so tight didn't do him any favours with the ears.

It was ok not a great start but I'll watch another before giving up on it.

Lots of geeky comic stuff in it which is always fine by me.

After the initial action I was really glad to see that it slowed down a lot. I think ideas about how a hundred year old brainwashed Russian super soldier would deal with socialising or if he needs therapy are way more interesting than seeing if he can punch the bad man enough to make him go to jail. Same with Sam’s story touching on how super heroes pay the bills and if Black heroes would still get the same shit from banks as other black people have to deal with. I’d rather see that without the masked bad man stuff but it was encouraging that that got so much focus.

who the person in the Cap suit at the end was? Other than the "new" Captain America?

Well, no.

Spoiler

I mean, comic book readers will and do, but it’s not essential. The main takeaways are i) US Government stooge, ii) trading heavily off Steve Rogers’ good name, iii) possibly a wrong ‘un.

And obviously Sam’s been played.

Cool that's kind of what I assumed but just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

Is it... (Question from someone who hasn’t read Marvel comics since c. 1997 coming up!)

Spoiler

The guy who was a grey palette-swap of Cap in Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighter?
