Anyone have a recommended Android or Retroarch emu/core for Amiga and Spectrum? I tend to use a standalone ones on Mac and have always found Fuse impossible to set up in Retroarch.

I'm just using the Amiga PUAE Core on RetroArch. No bother with it after getting the kickstarters on.

In case anyone was interested the Retroid Pocket Flip goes on sale tomorrow morning.

https://www.goretroid.com/en-gb/collections/frontpage/products/retroid-pocket-flip

Unfortunately for people in the UK it will be available from 2AM, and the Sport Red is limited to 1500 units. So unless you are willing to stay up late you might struggle to get one of those. I assume there'll be more of the other colours.

It’s kinda tempting (it’s a new retro handheld, why wouldn’t it be?), but I’m not too keen on the slidey stick things, and it looks quite bulky. The RP3+ is so lovely and thin.

Yeah, I need to think more like this. I'm a sucker for a clam shell design, but I'm not mad about the slidey sticks either.

(Obviously I'm not even mentioning the 5 or 6 other devices I have that do a very similar thing)

Cancelled my miyoo plus preorder . Playing on my rg351v it was pointless picking  up a miyoo when the rg351v does everything I want and more. It's more powerful, has the form factor of a DMG game boy, better build and has 2 SD slots. Think I need to play more instead of focusing on getting more of these devices. I probably regret it later though but I spent more time tinkering than actually playing.

Started to think about getting a pair of new SDCards for my RG351v looks like for about 30 quid I can get the set. Been reading up on the custom firmwares and I have the other data I need... While browsing eBay searching for replacement buttons I came across a listing for a pre configured card fully loaded and setup. That's pretty neet, if a bit niche... Only a tenner or so more than the card on its own... Much less faff too!

Got PSP emu running well on 353M. Custom config files all the way. Outrun with 30fps cap is flawless, plays really well.

God of War is a mess but seems the way across the board. Persona 3 runs brilliant. Everybody's Golf is next can't wait.

Decided to bite the bullet and do it myself - ordered a 32GB card and a 256GB card for my 351v. Can anyone recommend best firmware to put on this for Dreamcast emulation? I suspect everything below that will run well.

Not bothered about PSP I'll get a widescreen box for that at some point in the future (or dust off my CFW PSP).

Those have been around a while. My wife's cousin won one from a claw machine but the screen stopped working about a week later, so now it's just a hot battery with ears.

Get a Vita for PSP, with the added benefit of Vita games and reasonable emulation of almost everything up to and including Megadrive.

I bought @yakumo 's rg 280v off him, turned up yesterday and I'm loving it. Amazing timing as my wife was out at the theatre last night so full gaming session. I had a bunch of games noted to play and to my surprise it was Flashback on the SNES that I ended up putting a good couple of hours into, gotten further than I ever have before and maybe it's because it's kinda chill to play but not having problems with discomfort. Think maybe if I was playing Mario it'd be a different story.

But yeah, these things are great.

Cannot for the life of me get the Master System to appear on the 280v which has Adam image on it, there are roms in there and bios files for the system but nothing in the menu when scrolling through, Mega Drive / 32X etc are all in there.

Any suggestions?

@yakumo don't suppose there's a setting I need to find for enabling it in the menus is there?

I had downloaded a couple myself and that was the same folder I tried to put mine in so it’s confusing.

Watching the MGS intro still gives me chills, amazing, plays really well.

yeah its pretty  amazing you can play PS1 games on it, younger me mind would have exploded knowing a device that small could play so much.

I'm a big fan of AmberElec.  Find it a bit more user friendly than ArkOS, you can pick some good themes and feels nice to use.  ArkOS is also fine, AmberElec is more pick up and go.  Speaking of pick up and go...

Why hello there.  It's an Anbernic RG35XX.  It's very, very good.  Got the version with upgraded battery (2600mAh from the original spec 2100mAh - that's a spec change from Anbernic and not a special mod).  Put GarlicOS on, which is a simple upgrade aside from having to resize a partition on the SD card to maximise storage space.  Then it's simply a question of putting the ROMs and BIOS into the correct folders.  If you are used to other devices the folder names are slightly different (it uses OnionOS as a base, so NES is under FC as an example).  Nothing fancy, so logos, boxart or videos.  Just a list of titles.

On main screen menu button goes straight to recent.  It drops a save state on game exist, when you boot game up it just automatically loads the state.  Quick press on menu button in game takes you back to main menu, menu + keys have shortcuts and long press on menu brings up a screen telling you what the shortcuts are.  Very quick to boot, very quick to load games.  It's a great package.

Only downers so far is it doesn't have the grunt of even the 351 series.  So it was struggle with Violent Storm via FBNeo.  No issue with PS1 stuff and FBNEO isn't as lightweight as some other stuff.  It also rattles.  Give it a shake and the shoulder buttons on the back make a noise.  That's a design issue, it isn't just my device.  It can be fixed by adding some electrical tape to the back of the triggers when the case is open.  I don't mind it, I find it quite endearing that this small device reminds me of a toy.  Yes I am an idiot.  An idiot that likes Streets of Rage 2.

For a light actual portable device this really ticks all my boxes.  It is probably the first one of these I've had that doesn't have an obvious glaring issue that gets on my nerves too much.  Take the 351MP next to it.  Fantastic device, really wish it wasn't metal.  That's literally my only complaint about it.  Hell, that thing plays SoR Remake, Freedom Planet and Shovel Knight,  I think I got Quake working on it as well.

I need to give the 35XX a good test of battery life.  If it can get close to 6 hours it will be my favourite retro portable.  I don't think I'd want something smaller, plus you can actually buy one of these things unlike the Miyoo.  Certainly not from the UK with next day shipping (I've used Droix before - maybe more expensive than shipping from China but no need to worry about delays or customs).

It's great, big recommend.

I have my SDCards - any advice on the best FW to put on the RG351v? Leaning towards AmberElec but also tempted by ArkOS...

Amberelec, there's little performance gain in ArkOS. We're talking a few Frame advantage on some systems but its not going to make some dreamcast games magically perform better.

Thanks, will spin up my old backup platter for some ROMs and get cracking tomorrow :)

Have you tried the overclock in GarlicOS to see if it fixes this? Press Select on the OS menu and you'll see a + or ++ appear on the battery indicator. You might need to relaunch the game from scratch by using Start instead of A after doing this as I've had it glitch out a few times, but it sometimes does the trick.
