I still think Spider-Man 2 is the second best Spider-Man film ever made and one of the best superhero movies too. Great setpieces, a genuinely excellent and well-rounded boss and actual heroics. That train sequence is incredible and it's nice to see a superhero movie where their using their powers for good rather than simply bantering and beating up their mates. Granted some of the special effects look a little ropey now, but I still think it effortlessly kicks the shit out of most of the MCU films.

Agree with that, bar the last sentence. Have you seen every MCU film?

But he does have a point: spider-man is super strong, almost as strong as Thor and hulk (and sometimes stronger in the comics!), so yes he should totally be able to knock just about anyone out with a single punch but obviously can’t because that wouldn’t be very interesting. I think they’ve explained it away in the comics as him deliberately pulling his punches as he’d otherwise outright kill people, but it’s always been daft.

Yeah it’s a comics vs movie thing - in the comics he ranges in strength but he’s always exceptionally strong, it’s the upper limit that changes based on the story and writer’s needs.

On screen they’ve only rarely shown how strong he is: the Spider-Man 2 train scene (and later building collapsing bit) and then in Civil War, holding up the passenger boarding bridge and easily catching and manoeuvring Winter Soldier’s arm. In Homecoming he manages to hold the boat together pretty successfully for a long while until his webs start breaking, too, and he directs the plane with his web and strength. Then there’s that bit in Avengers when he catches that guy’s chain hammer thing like it’s nothing.

I definitely think they’ve done a great job with the Tom Holland Spidey in showing how strong he is.

Haha- that answer implies, but does not outright confirm, that you have seen all of the MCU movies bar Thor Dark World. I've got my eye on you!

Yes I've seen everything bar Thor.

Films I consider worth owning on 4K are

Captain America And The Winter Soldier

Guardians 1 & 2 (I don't love 2, but I love the characters)

Avengers Assemble + Infinity War and End Game

Thor Ragnarok (will probably sell this)

Yeah, they totally show how strong he is. I'm a movie, not a comic guy, so in my limited experience, he certainly isn't portrayed as thor or hulk strength, but definitely extremely strong. He would have also totally battered Captain America in civil war too, and that bugged me. C'mon, cap launched him by spinning his body round his web? This kid can hold a ferry together and literally sticks to the ground, cap aint doing shit even if he does have way more skills. It would by like us fighting a black belt 2 year old. It don't matter little guy, you're just not even close to being on the right level of brute strength to be a concern.

Is the trailer for this that dropped legit?

It’s the most spoiler-riddled thing I’ve ever seen.

The one posted at the end of the first page is legit. There is another fan made one which isn't.

Maybe Peter Parker's just really resilient against being stretched and shit at fighting. Stretchproof Notstrong.

Really? To me it's just a lot of setup. I still don't know the big villain of the film is or whatever else comes out of the multiverse.

Like you I'm not a comic reader, but even in the films all the characters have have wildly fluctuating power levels to the point that it bears no scrutiny. It's true of course for the X-Men series and any franchise that can't kill characters off and after a while it does get all rather boring because there's never any real danger.

You're right, of course. Superman and spiderman always suffer with this crapola. It's just especially jarring when it's in the same film, minutes apart. But I should probably stop nerding out about it. :(

Spider-Man is strong but not Hulk or Thor strong, however he’s way stronger than Cap. Cap can lift about half a tonne, Spider-Man can lift about 25 Tonnes, Thor, Hulk and Iron Man can all lift over 100 Tonnes. Those are the comic book numbers anyway.
