I started playing this with a. Couple of friends recently, loving the lore found (and hunting for) collectibles. Is pure porn for Aliens fans.

We are not great at it though, already had to replay a good few missions to hear up and failed at the last hurdle multiple times!

Is there a way to recharge the medic healing ability at all? Seems a bit limp at the moment (only lvl 2) and wondering wether to stick with it or the technician who seems a  far better addition to the team at the moment.

It's incredibly bad explained but when you pick up a health pack it recharges a proportion of the station.

So you want to be be picking up all 3 medpacks at each ammo drop point. And then using the med packs on the team, so you can pick up another.

But that relies on your team not healing themselves/not picked up med packs/needing healing.

Thank you! I knew were were missing something, it just seems to heal for so little and run out so quickly that it was much much easier to swap to technician and absolutely destroy everything instead 😜

Excellent, was thinking of buying this on PS5 as its currently £20 on amazon but will wait now and play it on gamepass. Kind of bad timing though to add it around the same time as Halo, hopefully there will still be plenty of people wanting to go on bug hunts.

I will be playing this once it hits gamepass.

Would love to make a team up of people that haven't played it before so we can all go in without prior knowledge.

I'd be all over that - have been holding out on it really hoping it would hit GP at some point.

I played it briefly (ie the first level) last night, and it’s ok. The movement and guns feel solid, although the level I played was very confined, with few chances for surprises or much sense of exploration - lots of blocked off corridors and painted on doors. I guess the later, more open levels will change this up. The cover system works well, but seems incongruous with the quick-moving aliens - I can’t imagine wanting to be stationary for too long with those things crawling around out there.

Definitely looking forward to playing online with friends.

Very pleased to say that the first mission isn’t really representative of the rest of the game, which opens up and get very frenetic very quickly. The last mission of the first chapter ended rather abruptly when multiple bigguns appeared at the same time on the last stage of the last arena and killed our whole team in about 30 seconds with insta-kill attacks, which felt a bit unfair, but I am looking forward to giving it another crack soon. The alien and gun sound effects are doing a lot of heavy lifting, and while the core game loop is somewhat repetitive it’s not without a certain flair or thrill.

Ironically on Insane difficulty that's exactly what you do lol.

Really not a fan of extreme and insane on this game. Increasing the damage the aliens can take was the wrong move, and turns it into a bullet sponge exstravaganza. Don’t make them tougher, just up the number of spawns, so you’re fighting more of them!

Hopefully the devs reconsider their approach there, but they’ve seemed oddly stubborn on certain points with this game so I’m not holding out too much hope.

Pretty much. Our tactic was running Gunner/Tech/Recon for every mission but 2 where we used Gunner/Tech/Tech. Overclock and pump action does melt the special enemies though.

Honestly, I found some of the constant respawns way worse than the bullet sponginess of the enemies. You literally have to keep moving from room to room, if you stop for a second you get a pack of prowlers/bursters spawning on your ass every time.

1-3 is THE worst mission by a country mile on Insane though because of that god awful NPC you have to escort. It's marginally easier now he doesnt get oneshot by grapples but that level tooks us hours to get down. The majority of the others we blew through once we got the strats down.

I’m curious to know why, it doesn’t seem to work as a cover shooter to me, due to the way the aliens are constantly swarming towards you, but do want to pick up some pro strategies!

Once you learn which rooms trigger enemies, you hold up in the doorway so the door doesn't shut and funnel all the enemies towards you.

With everyone running pump action shotguns + twilight sniper rifles and the gunner using overclock every time a special spawns, you don't have to move, just let everything come to you.

In some of the later levels you literally have 2 people stay at the start and the third run through the level triggering encounters and kiting everything back to the other 2 players waiting, rinse and repeat.

Takes a while to get the strategies down but once you follow the right routes and know where to sit, it's not too bad tbh. Worst missions are 1-3 and 4-2.

Well that sounds just miserable!

im still playing solo on casual on PS5 despite waiting for 10 mins to match each time. It just feels very samey and lonely.

I'm an achievement hunter and have OCD lol so if I start something I sit through some of the worst grinds available to finish it xD

For context my total playtime to 100% was 135 hours lol.

The PS4/5 player base is severely depleted by now, unlike XBox which will have seen a significant boost from gamespass, so you’re only likely to get matched on difficulties from intense and above.

Is there any particular reason why you’re playing on casual? I only ask because casual and normal can feel quite slow and predictable, as the game only really comes into its own on intense. Feel free to add me if you ever want to experiment with higher difficulties.

This game is so sodding difficult on PC on normal difficulty. I'm soloing it with a couple of absolute idiots led by someone more stupid than them. Does anyone have any tips on how to get past the two crushers at the end of mission 7?

Crushers?

The Tech's slow can be amazing at big enemies and use Fire etc on armour.

Ta. I will give that a try - been trying raw firepower so far (including fire) and just can't stay alive long enough.
