Here to lower the tone with the sexualised model ft. overly attached girlfriend eyes!

Also, how the fuck do you make it not chalky?! Any time I try to glaze something it ends up just looking a bit dirty? First time doing a metal model and I did a really shitty coat of brush on primer which isn't helping but I get this every time I try to paint good.

As I understand it that's to do with over-painting an area before it's dried? A lot of the tutorials I've seen (such as the one I'm following for the Lord of Blights) say to not only thin your paint, but to move the brush fast, and not to return to the same area with more strokes until the previous pass has dried.

I do definitely do this though, too impatient! Should really practice on a base or something. Thanks for the advice :)

Me too, you can see where I’ve done it on the back of the cello.

Yesterday it’s hyper-sexualised models are bad, today it’s how much should I highlight her backside…

Decided to ditch the palid skin tone of the original art & go more realistic.  Nothing to do with not being able to mix a colour I liked .  Need to lighten up her spine so it doesn’t look like it’s a foot deep.

Would be so much easier to painting without that sodding pole in the way.

I thought he was joking?

Went to bed feeling pretty disappointed with my efforts, but this morning it doesn’t look too bad. It’s just messy but I know I can tidy it up:

As I may have mentioned, I decided to follow Darren Latham’s tutorial for it, and it started well enough. The initial layering process is methodical and straightforward, and mine looked just like his.

The problems set in at the wash stage, where I realised that I’d been far too heavy handed and imprecise with my layering around the creases (around the neck for example), so much so that I’d buried details. So then I panicked and thought “fuck it, I’ll wash the whole thing”, and that just made it look a mess.

I tidied it up a bit before bed though, and it’ll be ok. I have to say though, I’m even more impressed by Mr Latham than I was before. I haven’t got to the maggots yet, but he paints them in a way that I can only describe as superhuman, highlighting each segment multiple times! I tried to put a bit of paint on individual maggots, just to locate them, and frequently missed!

Was meaning to do mine while I was off work but obviously that didn't happen so I will have to get at least 1 done and submitted during my "painting in meetings" sessions.

Surely that’s encouraged by your employer?

Did some shading on the LoV in the sunshine earlier, also working on my fetid slime base.

Looks like we'll have a bumper amount of submissions this month, great theme choice @Davros sock drawer

#shame

doing some more work on her today, got the skin to where I was happy not to touch it, so moved onto other parts.  Managed to splash oil paint across her face by the time I notice it had stained the acrylic so going to have to do that again :hmm:

Ok, so I managed to squeeze in a painting session last night as I’m not going to get to sit down and do it again before the 24th, so it’s a bit rushed in places.

This is the fleshiest miniature I have on the pile of shame. Practically naked. Like The Bag’s nudey lady, check out the curves on that, phwoar, belly!
Sadly/gladly the number plate obscures what would be otherwise a gratuitous amount of troll teat. They are number erm, X, as I figure trolls can’t actually count.

I re-posed the standard bloodbowl troll so I have one to use in games where it isn’t on a team with goblins. Goblin is gone, other arm no longer obscures the face, some bits of armour and trophies added.
I’d have liked to get the leg in a different place too but couldn’t figure out how.
Anyway, I did that ages ago and put it in the to be painted box and didn’t touch it since. so this was a good opportunity to make myself do it.

I’m not delighted with how the purple flesh came out, but I quite like the spines and scales - I wanted it to look like the troll was being corrupted by exposure to too much warpstone - so they took a lot of coats to get done.

I was also a bit hampered by the teams it may end up in are either in red or orange armour so had to try and get a bit of that in as well. Not convinced by purple and orange together!
