The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - Ryan Reynolds, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson & Salma Hayek

Recommended Posts

Just came here to post this. I think it looks great. Good to see Salma Hayek having a bigger role too. Looks like everyone is having a lot of fun. Daft nonsense, but enjoyable daft nonsense.

I'm getting a little tired of him being the same sort of knowingly arch irony thing going on in everything he is doing.  I mean, he's a really good actor when he wants to be and as said above it can make average material watchable (e.g the first Hitmans Bodyguard movie) but it's getting to feel self-indulgent in the same way that Judd Apatow kept getting millions to improv movies with his mates.

I love Reynolds in most things, so I'll watch it for sure, even though I thought the first film was a bit rubbish.

Same. I hated the first one, but this still looks like a right laugh.

I think he's not an actor whose films you can watch one after the other for this reason (it was also one of the reasons I don't think Deadpool 2 quite landed for me). But I really enjoyed 6 Underground and Free Guy looks decent too, so I'm happy to give this a watch. Is it a cinema release or straight to streaming?
