May painting Challenge: Light

[Oracle]

@Albert Fish stumbled onwards through the cavern, the last guttering flames of the lantern casting demonic shadows on the walls. He had to find the inscription before it was too late. He cursed under his breath as the lantern finally gave out “It should be right here, if only I had some light to see it!” the last words of reverberating in the dark. But the light was gone; and with it, all hope….
 

In this months challenge shedding a light on light, light sources and it’s counter part, darkness. 

 

Double apologies on the lack of an entry by me this month and the tardy vote but we have a head to head clash of champions this month, each keen to outshine the other!

So what models are you thinking of painting in May?

Undecided. I have a shitload of unfinished Nighthaunt which are ripe for glowing effects, but I also have a little Malifaux guy with a lantern that I’ve always planned to try some OSL on

I'm undecided too. I have a cheesy female warrior holding a torch or the Crimson Court just turned up and I could paint one of them in pale armour or with glowing eyes, etc

In a total result, I double checked my ork pile of shame and it turns out I have the meganobz from the prophesy of the wolf box set, which includes the bits to make the teleporta blaster thing above!

I've started. In a completly random move I'm going with a Lord of Plagues

Looks great. On both the axe and the miniature did you use an airbrush or dry brushing?

Looks great. I have never done OOL and I have something I want to paint (won’t make the contest) so I am very interested in techniques.

I’m not sure if I’ll go with this guy after all. He’s so tiny and the lamp is behind him so it’s not exactly going to light up any of the details. I might have a rummage through the pile of shame...

I hate this mini. I completely screwed up the face and the lamp snapped off, but I wasn't enjoying painting it anyway. Not sure what else I've got which fits the theme, but I'll think of something.

I've not picked up a brush all month, I really need to get crackling.

This might be a bit late to make it as an entry, but I’m going to try to paint this guy as if moonlight is hitting him from above. Not really sure how, but I’ll try!

That should look great. I should hopefully get to finish my plague lord tonight (damn you Resident Evil!)

That’s a great choice, checkout Marco’s latest video he’s painted him, not in that style but still cool.

Ok, so I have actually managed to finish something I’m reasonably happy with, and I won’t get any time to fiddle with it, so here’s my entry:

Thank you! I did this one with lens flare but it seemed a bit “cheaty” as it has changed the colour of the mini a bit. But I guess it’s all about making stuff that looks cool eh?
