Gah for fuck sake. I don't understand why it has to be this way. I have no issue with crossplay on most games, just not shooters. Disabling it at a system level will just ensure that hardly anyone does it and you will just get dumped into lobbies with bots.

Got it to work the one time I used it, which someone then instantly jumped in and drove off. I managed to jump in before he disappeared though.

To change weapon attachments you use the face buttons to cycle between them.

Had a ten minute go. Lots of bots, but we're in hour 3 so can hardly judge. I also don't like Conquest generally, and this map type (large open map) is my least favourite type of BF map - it seems to lack any notable chokepoints for infantry, and has a natural sniper line for the rocket launchpad/warehouse along the hill which will get real old, real fast.

 

It looks absolutely gorgeous, except for the weird lagging animation on tanks. I like the weapon attachment switching. Specialist/weapon selection feels clunky, though. Still, too early to tell.

 

Also how good is it to have helicopters back again? Joy!

Ah the more I think of this the more fucking gutted I am. I'll wait until I play tonight but that's genuinely knocked all excitement out of this for me. I've had it pre-ordered digital since day one but I may cancel. 

 

Going up against PC is not a balanced thing in any shooter. MKB is so much faster than controller. But worse than that, cheaters are rife in PC games. Warzone is totally ruined because it and from what I've read they're already in 2042.

One thing that did happen with my game is the graphics would drop out for a fraction of a second frequently. Usually background things like buildings. That's a bit worrying.

Anyone able to comment on the Heli / Flight controls? Can you change them back to what was in BF4?

 

When I played the tech test the default controls were some of the worst flight controls I've ever used, but the settings to change them were disabled.

Well I just made it all the way to the top of the launch tower (which is a bloody long climb I can tell you), to admire the admittedly lovely view on my Series X, when some evil bastard in an attack chopper blew me to pieces.  How rude.

So managed to finish a full match. Also managed to summon both a dog and a vehicle, seems to be connected to your placement, sometimes the "summon-circle" won't appear even though you are in the open and have the item available.

 

The lag and thus the bullet registration (hope it is lag and not net code again) are problematic. Sometimes the TTK is 0,5 seconds, sometimes you can empty 50 rounds into someone with only 2 registering.

 

Also there seems to be some sort of memory leak? The performance gets worse and worse on my Series X the further into the match I get. At the start it is smooth 60 fps but at the end it was very very choppy with some wonky animations that seemed to run at 15 fps.

Maybe the dog/car summoning is tied to enemy proximity as well?

I think the summon ability is linked to how many vehicles are currently in use on the map.  For instance there are only 2 Battle tanks allowed at any one time per team, so you can only summon one if nobody else is using em, otherwise everybody would be blasting around in tanks.

Supposedly this is a 6month old build. Getting a lot more bugs as I play but when it all comes together it's brilliant.

You’re all having better luck than me. I set the series x/s download off yesterday and when I came to check it, it wasn’t anywhere to be found. Did it again in the evening so it would be ready today, same thing! It hadn’t saved it anywhere despite showing in the queue when it said it was downloading. 3rd time lucky hopefully…

Are you on Xbox? If you can turn it off at a game level, then that's fantastic. But as pointed above another user had that option greyed out.

Where is your default download location? Mine is my external. If I download a series game it will make a popup asking if I want to install it on the internal drive instead. If that happens when the console is downloading overnight it just cancels the download.

For real?? I played an hour at lunch with a colleague and loved it. What's the issue? It's genuinely impressive on Series X aside from the odd graphical glitches now and again.

The crowd over at reddit think they are playing the full released game it seems. 

 

I have had a lot of fun in the 6 games I have played. Yes, there are a ton (and I mean a fucking ton) of things I dislike but the actual gameplay feels great. And there are a ton of bugs but that's totally expected. 

 

Just wish people would actually drop ammo. And heal/revive. And talk. But it's BF. I say this every new game and people eventually do start to learn. 

 

Also, how the fuck do you spot on xbox?

Tried a couple of rounds, thought it was garbage. Map was to big and boring. takes an age getting anywhere on foot. Visuals far worse than V. Only saving grace was tweaking your weapon on the fly was nice.

 

Wait till it's free on ea play before I give this another go.

I played 6 games today, I’ve not played much BF over the years but enjoyed what I played. It looks quite rough, textures popping in and out, flickering and models stuck in the air or in scenery. I can’t control the helicopters or the plane though, need more practice or a different control scheme I think
