Out of curiosity, how many people preordering don’t already have the better battery model?

If i hadn't already got the better battery model (or as i like to call it: The Switch Plus) I would have been all over this.  A prettier screen just isn't as much as draw on a handheld as better power/battery performance, as the Atari Lynx, Game Gear etc, discovered when they went up against the Gameboy.

I’ve pre ordered two, as I knew one of my mates will want the other, I’ve had mine since launch so regardless of the OLED having a better screen etc I felt it was the right time to upgrade regardless, it’s the only console I play so worth showing it some love,

Think I’ll hand my current switch down to my eldest as she’s borrowing mine more and more for Minecraft

I can't justify it to myself even though I love my Switch, use it loads in handheld mode and think OLED's on mobile devices look glorious oh shit I think I've just justified it.

Can't help but think there'll be an improved spec Switch next year though.

So conflicted.

While I do play 99% of the time docked, I’m hoping the slightly bigger screen will allow my old eyes to comfortably play games with small text more easily so I can play in bed etc a bit more. Doki Doki Literature Club last month for example I found impossible.

That’s the killer feature for me (potentially).

I may have cancelled in favour of a Deck only but my 512 is Q2 2022 so kept my preorder.

Looking forward to Metroid and the Pokemon remasters in Nov in OLED and in handheld so why not. Also if the rumours are true Windwaker HD at somepoint.

I guess nobody has any real ‘need’ for it, it’s a ‘want’ product through and through. But I’ve realised that the majority of my Switch time is handheld so I’m still all-in with this.

A few years ago I had an OLED gaming laptop which was utterly gorgeous, then I upgraded to a Razer Blade with RTX 2070, with a non-OLED 144Hz screen. The performance increase was substantial, but by that point I couldn’t enjoy games on anything other than an OLED, no matter what the refresh rate was, so it went back.

This might ‘only’ be the screen (plus a few pointless extras), but I expect it to be a huge jump over the previous models, and a case of ‘once you’ve seen it you’ll never go back’.

I think it’s often overlooked how much difference a gorgeous display makes to a gaming experience, even on a handheld.
