Has anyone traded their old switch into Game, how do they handle the transfer?

Actually, what is the transfer process? Do I need to have both switches together? I’ve no animal crossing island.

You need both to transfer, unless you have cloud saves for everything (some games like Pokémon don’t support it).

You have to redownload all the games in any case.

I’d like to spend the least amount of time possible in Game. If I’ve cloud saves (which I should I pay for online) with no Pokémon or Animal Crossing I don’t really need both machines together?

Why can’t I just move my SD card delays 3DS guide style :(

I went into Game today to see what they had by way of deals.

It wasn't a nice experience.

It also took me a good five minutes trying to find the sodding Switch section. It constantly amazes me how shite their selection of games is considering that the console is so popular.

Not 100% sure but no, you shouldn't. You may need to deactivate/dissociate your old one from your Nintendo account before you get rid of it, though.

So, I’m also thinking of buying a Switch OLED just to play TOTK. I already have a very tired original Switch and a Switch Lite.

Interested to hear if 1 year on Swoled owners are still in love with dat screen, or were y’all swept up in the hype?

Is BOTW especially improved on the OLED?

The screen continues to be great, so if you game a lot handheld, or if you feel like you would do so more with a better screen (as has happened in my case), go for it. The only buyer’s remorse you could have is if the mythical Switch Pro happens before you get enough use out of the OLED model, but it’s a total crapshoot trying to guess when that thing comes out or if it even exists.

Still love the screen. I remember booting up BOTW on the OLED and thinking the green grass looked especially amazing.

I buy indie titles on my switch over my deck because of the screen. Never regretted the upgrade.

This is so true and I almost hate to admit it having bought a Steam Deck, but the OLED absolutely destroys it on picture quality.

It's a constantly impressive console, considering the old tech inside the thing. The screen is fantastic, although I do confess my eyes are not quite what they were, so I can't use it like that for long periods of play-time as I just feel terribly sick (Metroid Prime is a huge 'nope' on it unfortunately). However, the joy and pleasure of just bunging the thing in the dock and see things magically shift to the tv and then back again does not get old.

It's by far the best console I've ever had, and is a wonderful companion to my main gaming arena on PC.

Plus, if you like Japanese RPGS from Japan (sorry), then you kind of have to get one because it is absolute heaven for all that fun stuff.

Are there any deals for these to be had? £275 new from eBay is the best I can find. Think it's going to be worth it for the new Zelda. Edit: got one for £255 in the end :) can't wait!

Is this an OLED? From eBay as well? I'm finally looking at taking the long overdue plunge, and that kind of price would be handy!

Edit: thought this was all Switch chat, not OLED only, d'oh!

So, if you haven't bought anything from Very before and open up one of their store account things, it'll entitle you to 20% off your first credit purchase. I bought an OLED switch, Zelda and a Pro Controller for £310, which I thought was a bloody super price really, and paid off the credit the next month.

I bought one a year or so back. The screen is good and it does look notably better than the steam deck screen but it wouldn’t stop me buying a game on deck if it were cheaper. I’m not that bothered.

Especially taking into account the hand cramp the switch gives me.

The Hori Split Pad Pro is the way to go there. Had the same issue until I picked one up. Ended up playing a lot more Switch via handheld mode but it is fairly large -

The Split Pad Pro Compact was released recently for those who find the Pad Pro too large -

So, it arrived and is predictably lush. I did the transfer from a Lite, and fired up my mid-game save on BOTW. I was at the entrance to the Goron Divine Beast van Rudania.

I was initially kinda okay, this is lively and very colourful (tried standard but prefer vivid for now), it’s lovely and bright, and ooh I like the bigger screen. But not totally blown away. Then I went inside the Beast and its pitch black in there, with the occasional glow of a vibrant blue torch or an orange chest.

Ah, fuck me, now I see! Stunning. What an incredible difference the infinite contrast makes. Just amazing. Sadly after 10 minutes the lights go on and I was a bit sad.

So the quest for games that have superblacks begins. Atari 50 and Asteroids/Vctr Sctr etc. are up next…
