Logo Design Help

Right, I broke my ownm rule for MHG, which is to never do your own branding. I am never happy with my own work and especially with the MHG logo as it is shit.

I need a redesign doing that keeps the same branding aesthetic in terms of colours, but is cleaner and more recognisable. I am unsure of budget right now but after some advice/ideas/options.

Essentially it needs to be something that represents the following

Mental Health Discussion
Videogames

Inclusion

The current one is a bit too on the nose and with the white male and female silhoettes it feels very narrow representation wise. So want to take gender out of it.

This is the current logo:

Anyone have any ideas of what I should try and budget for this? I always undervalued myself, but don't want to do that to others, although I have a non-existent budget right now, I am trying to work something out for how much I should raise in funds.

OK so I have this business and its called Bob's Autos and I need a logo that has a car in it...

Bauer does not have a logo that looks like ice hockey, Sony does not have a joypad in their logo. Don't be so literal.

Yeah I want to get away from literal. It's why I dislike this one.

I can't design for myself at all I just get a creative block

When I say I want it to represent those things I mean without having a joypad, etc front and center.

Just as a random idea, albeit a fairly literal one, could you do a take on the Love, Death Robots logo replacing the icons with Brain, Heart, Joypad (or whatever you feel is relevant/sensitive)? It's a complex idea to get across in a single image, so maybe easier not to. I really like this as a logo, and it was memorable enough to provoke this reply...

@bradigor way nicer. But still iterate on it. Duplicate what you have (so its safe) then start to mess with it - Does it need that 3D element? is that fighting against the type? Should the speech bubble be fatter, could the triangle at the bottom be smaller etc etc.

Basically don't rush this, good shit does not happen in an afternoon or a weekend. Give yourself time to think. But great work so far.

Just to reinforce what I was saying last week - https://www.instagram.com/p/CP0gaZ6M8ZW/

Not my work. Had someone work on it for me as had complete creative block.

Going to try and do a flat version too but I like the overall shape.

Pill capsule into speech type thing.

I am looking at the triangle to see if I can iterate on that a little, but I am pretty happy with the general look. So only minor changes.

It fit my brief in keeping the idea of talking helps to heal whilst removing the narrow representation of the old logo.

I want to try a version where there is a slight accent around the left section on the flat version.

I have a stab, just haven't had time at the moment.

This is some of the iteration stuff I have played with. (I work fast or not at all  sorry*)

The Pride flag stuff is to see how it works with different backgrounds for events, etc. I think the smaller 'triangle' works better overall. I am settled on the capsule / speech idea I think though.

What's the thinking with the split in the middle? I start seeing an abstract P in the white. I do like the negative space, but may be worth just playing with a solid shape or flipping them as iterations and see how it feels.

Pill capsule init.

@bradigor See this is the problem doing this sort of stuff and using the forum. I did the logo for GamerDork (which was Xib's podcast) and the offshoot of that was @noob DorkTunes (as at the time they were sort of affiliated). I told Xib this shit takes time, it wont be rushed. I don't mean me doing the work I mean digesting what is done, said etc. What happened? I sent over some samples and next min Xib is posting it on the GamerDork forums. Basically going off halfcocked.

You've already released this into the world, you should have sat on it for a few weeks, mulled it over. Asked for feedback in private rather than a free for all.

As for @yakumo - Brad is using a common pill and speech bubble form along with a common pattern for a d-pad and action buttons. Healthy Gamers is using the same button pattern (which is used by pretty much all consoles now) and a thought bubble form; not a speech bubble. Healthy Gamers are using a key-line for this bubble, whilst Brad is using a filled shape with faux shadows. Both are using totally different colour palettes. So I'd say in my professional opinion if Healthy Gamers went on the war path i'd tell them to eat a bowl of dicks.

Just to put this to bed now.

.I did not design the logo. I was going to but got someone to do it for me who has no connection to the forum or the site.

I am happy with the design as it meets my brief.

I forgot about the Gamer Dork design which I love by the way. Rushed decision or not. I lack patience due to my ADHD I needed it and I needed it now. It is something I need to work on for sure . I just can't do taking time to get just

The general feedback from our followers has been positive too so happy with it.

But I do have ADHD as mentioned so I'll probably get bored of it next year anyway

I used what you gave me as allowed.

Didn't jump a gun.
