I used the AWD Golf R32 with a tune that focused on launch and acceleration. It did take me a few tries and in the end I knocked over the lamppost just after the start line and made sure not to hit the stairs to quickly and just about managed to beat the target time. I’m very happy they’ve reduced the difficulty of The Trial because it means I don’t have to win the seasonal cross country championship which I found impossible and I hate that circuit where you always come to a dead halt after the jump before the start / finish line.

How do you actually make money in this game?

I've got six of the seven houses and need 5m for the last one. I've got 2m so it seems a long way off.

Everything I do just seems to give me XP and... some kind of stars? But not cash money.

Do I need to sell off my garage?

Do I need to sell off my garage?

  • Wheelspins & Superwheelspins (though they are a bit nerfed now as they added lots of low credit 'wins')
  • Selling duplicate cars (better to do via the notification popup where possible as you will almost always get less for them at auction)
  • Using those skill points (the stars) to buy the credits items in the car skill mastery trees.  Generally expensive and fancier cars are more likely to have high credit masteries on them.  You can also earn wheelspins this way too
  • Auctioning off cars though prices on the whole are lower now

Some generally good cars to auction are the ones given as the 20 and 40 point rewards in the weekly seasons.  The 20 point ones are typically new to the game so are in demand (downside being if you want to keep them!), the 40 point ones are typically already available but not too common so often go for around 1 million if you unlock them early on in the season week (day 1 or max day 2).  Cars awarded for some of the more difficult seasonal events are sometimes quite valuable too, I guess from people who CBA with winning them via the events.

Suggest sticking to 1 hour auctions and relisting where necessary.  Auction searches are returned by "ending soonest" so most stuff actually just gets bought in the last few minutes of its auction unless its something really limited/ high demand

Good advice, thanks. Normally when there's a car I like using, I just unlock the skill tree far enough to get the x2 crash save thing (I forget what it's called, the thing that lets you have one big shunt without dropping your skill streak). I hadn't really paid much attention to what other unlocks there are, like cash and spins.

Some duplicate info, but I'd started writing before StumpyJohn replied and got distracted away, so I'll finish.

You should be getting money credits from races. When you load back into the open world it pops up on screen your event XP then event CR.

In the settings difficulty options you can turn off traction/stability control, ABS, etc and increase the AI level higher to get bonus credits.

Use the car mastery points to get bonus XP, wheelspins, etc.

Do some rivals mode time trialling and get some CR each time you beat someone. Or even if not, I just done a dozen or so laps of Bahia De Plano circuit in S1 and didn't beat the rival (my car was down on PI :P) and got almost 100K credits. Plus 15K more from a wheelspin for levelling up with the XP what I earned while lapping.

EDIT: I am VIP so do get double credits I think. So buy the VIP add-on maybe? Not sure how much it is now, if it's gone on sale yet.

There's the option to do the below, known as 'AFK' races. As mentioned there I only ever did it once and I think I might've read they tweaked the game so it's not as lucrative now to do one big long race as the XP maxes out lower than it used to, so better to do multiple shorter races. Check youtube/reddit to confirm if you fancy doing it.

If you go into the blueprint events on a race location you can see the AFK races people have made just for this.

Bit cheaty and rather wasteful for using electricity, but easiest way might be just letting the game play itself

If you go the big whopper Goliath road circuit track and set up a blueprint race event for 50 laps. Pre race go into the difficulty settings where you can switch them to have auto steering, assisted braking and auto transmission, traction/stability control on. Then start the race and pop an elastic band round your controller so it holds the accellerator trigger down. I think you also need to plug your controller in to the console with usb cable so it doesn't go to sleep from inactivity and pause the game. Knock off controller rumble so it's not sat there vibrating away. Come back in about 9 hours.

I did it once for a 3 lap run a couple months back when there was a weekly festival challenge to drive some shitty old 1930's Bentley for 100 miles and I couldn't be arsed with that. So I set the 3 lap race up and let it go at it by itself. Mine did fuck up and end falling off the road and stuck under a bridge of another road below though and I had to steer it back on track. It was tuned to S1 though and handled like shit and I don't remember if I put traction/stabillity on. Should go better with a nice safer decent handling car.

I don't remember how much I got in credits either. Maybe give it a trial run with a 5-10 lap race to see if it works ok first.

Like this pretty much...

The Meyers Manz weekly challenge isn’t working for me. I bought the car from the Forzathom shop and the challenge refuses to register than I’m driving it.

I've had similar happen in a past season, I managed to fix it by fully quitting the game and restarting it

Now I can't blame everyone for having better tunes than me. Same cars and I still come in near the bottom. :seanr:

Can always just blame 'team mates' that would rather push you off the road or outside of a checkpoint gate to gain a personal place rather than driving as a team to win overall! 🤬

Summer Information

Should be an interesting trial this week, no upgrades allowed.

I managed it on my first try, or rather my teammates did as I trailed how in 5th to 10th place. The AI Drivatars won the first race easily, the long straights made the second race an easy enough win because the Drivatars braked very early for the few corners the track had and race three was very easy because everyone punted the Drivatars off at the first set of esses and raced away for a comfortable win.

Does anyone here enjoy the Playground games? I only play them when they are part of the Forzathon and have found Infected, Flag race and King very tedious.

I don't mind them. It's just that it feels like you spend more time waiting for the rounds to start than actually playing and that puts me off.

Autumn Information

The trial is again with stock cars, however there are apparently ways to "upgrade" so it's worth looking for tunes before attempting it. You can add aero to lower the PI so you can add some upgrades.

After a couple of shitty Event Lab challenge races the last weeks this one was pretty good.

Another stock trial.

You don't actually need to use a stock car, that's clearly far too complex for PGG coders to actually build.  It just needs to be the PI of the stock car so I used a tune this week that added about 30mph to my top speed and knocked about 10% off my 0-60 time.  Made completing it a lot easier.

Also there seems to be a bug in the treasure hunt this week (SHOCKING news i'm sure! 🤣), It indicates you need to trigger it with a coupe but it actually appears that it has to be specifically a 2 door coupe, I initially tried it in a 4 door coupe, with actual "Coupe" in the cars name, and it didnt pop.  Retried with a 2 door, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupé (2016) and it was ok.

I'd always assumed that it would be limited to just German cars given the theme of the Series but thinking back on this I assume the car in the actual pic was the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupé (2016) itself and so only that car was eligible?  Certainly annoyingly fussy though!

Ah, yes that would be logical, but still a couple of the ones I tried should’ve played nice. Finally did try and get success with the pictured Merc.
