I can’t even get the first event to load properly. I travel to Mexico, drive to the Rally Adventure logo and press X to enter the event. But it takes me to an install page, or press B to go back. I definitely own it and everything FFS.

Yeah I completely turn off my Xbox and power, and I’ve got that bloody update. My broadband is crap, so I won’t be playing this tonight.

18 gigs for locations that are already in the game also I thought the Xbox was supposed to update automatically but mine hasn't.

the locations are not already in the game. And it updates automatically for things you’ve played recently, sometimes, with a following wind (I can’t remember it doing this, but I normally have it in the energy saving off mode). It doesn’t update dlc until you find and download it.

Not getting the expansion yet but the neon lights in the night races are very pretty.

Had a quick go on the rally expansion and it's good fun - really took me back to playing Sega Rally back in the day. 

 

I much prefer the off road stuff anyway so I can see me spending plenty of time on this.

Had fun rallying but it's really lacking any edge of your seat close call bum squeakery.

 

Then it puts you in an off road beetle and its drudgery.

 

Cars spit more fire and make lots of great popping noises.

 

The new landscape looks lovely and a new area to explore and just bomb about in unlocking and seeing the map is always fun.

 

The rallying so far hasn't needed the navigator. I expect the whole thing will be criticised for its lack of rallying ultimately.

Did there used to be some rivals play in this thread? On the forza forums they have started this week with Orogrande - A class - Rally monsters. I managed 2:37, but they are up on 2:15.

^ had a go of that, got 2:26 in a hoonigan cossie, after a lot of invalid attempts.

 

really enjoyed the rally dlc after a bad start (because using a different wheel so needed to sort out the settings). The stages and environment are great, the amount content in terms of events to do was maybe a bit short so ive been doing some other rivals events on those tracks, great fun

S2 Rally is insane  Love it.

 

1986 RS200 is tremendous.

 

Going to have a crack at Orogrande....

Been really enjoying the Hot Wheels expansion right up to the S2 class cars and it's gone to shit instances. I don't enjoy the super fast cars and I've got the difficulty on Highly Skilled so 90% of the pack are easily beaten but the guy in first just makes no mistakes. Same as it's ever been. It'd be a shame to abandon it at this point but I don't see me finishing it

Same. Picked this up again recently and have been quite enjoying just finishing up things here and there, but I haven't touched Hot Wheels since bouncing off S2. Half way through my first seasonal thing though, got a bunch of cars.

 

That said, I finally got around to fetching the Mercedes on the loading screen and it absolutely sticks to the road in track mode, so  I need to give S2 a whirl again.

 

Cross country races can, as always, take a hike. I might whack it down to the easiest setting to finally cross those off. There isn't a more bullshit thing in the whole of this game than bouncing off an invisible barrier around a Hot Wheels track support during a huge jump. The random screws ups from cross country are bad enough as it is. I was worried I'd need to do them all to finally unlock the last barn find but it finally got repaired for me the other day. Not sure what I completed, but it was as I was closing in on level 200. So it's not like I hadn't been playing.

FH5 with a bunch of other stuff (Hot Wheels, Rally, Car Pass, VIP something or other) is about £47. 
 

You can get it bundled with the equivalent version of FH4 for not a great deal more. But not sure I’d play 4 if I have 5.

I think the double pack is on Xbox for about 24 quid this week. I tried to find it on the Xbox site but using it on mobile is fucking painful.

Forza Horizon 5 has a far superior base game, but 4 has far better DLC.

I finally finished the speed traps and zones, first time in an FH. It finally occurred to me that I could approach certain traps offroad.

 

How do I stop it displaying each individual festival event on the map every single time I load the game or quick resume? It's kinda daft, I've completed them all and it still does it.

You can push RB to filter events on the map. I don't think you can filter just by stuff you haven't done, though.

Yeah it's not while using them map, it's when I first sign in/resume. It always does the thing where she mentions the festival and then it draws on the blank map one by one the locations of festival events. Every time! Must be a bug, I guess.
