How do I get back to the Seasonal’s summary screen? Do I need to or is everything now just on the map?

It’s all feeling at bit overwhelming with accolades etc., can I just ignore most of it and just work my way round the map?

I ticked off one of the Seasonal Championships (Saloon) in my 1M last night and that was good fun.

The intro is superb. Throwing you out of a plane into an array of vehicles and terrains instantly lets you see just how good the driving is. That it then stops you driving to bugger about with avatar stuff that literally doesn't matter is an odd choice. Choose your voice, from the ... Oh. That's a limited set of options, there. Just a bit weird, and I just wish it told me before I finished that I can change any part of it at any time.

But that's all I can find to complain about. A couple of weird physics moments, hardly surprising in a gameworld this large. Like the time I was stopped dead by a bicycle leaning against a wall. I giggled, but it's a slightly jarring disconnect, brings you right out of the zone. I could have rewound, I guess, but I made the decision to just never do that. If I miss a checkpoint, I'm restarting the race.

I'm not sure I trust the comparators to friends when I do things. I'm not even sure who some of my Xbox friends are these days, but 1 of them was seemingly discovering new roads at precisely the same rate I was. Great, but he wasn't even online at the time ...

None of this matters. It will do to some, and that's to be expected when there's such a detailed sim aspect to the game. Stuff I completely fail to understand, like when I decided to put 100 psi into my tyres it increased my top speed by 0.02 mph. Why? I don't know, bigger tyres? But, if the game is that serious, all the other stuff makes less sense. My best guess is that some of us old farts just think Alejandra needs to stop interrupting us while we're out there looking for boards to smash.

Just ignore all of it. Play whatever you want whenever you want and build that event bar up to do the next big fun thing. I'm currently playing it as a completely single player experience and doing a race, dirt race, cross country race, street race or one of the stories until it ticks the next box then I go off and do that. Then once I've finished all of that I'll move over to doing the weekly seasonal events (which were always great fun in FH4) and mopping up the rest of the races I haven't done across the map.

The RB button on the map screen is your friend. If you're getting overwhelmed just think "what do I fancy doing?" and untick everything else on the map and then go find one that looks fun. The seasonal events/championships are a tickable option on the RB screen.

Sod the accolades, sod the XP, sod all the guff you don't want to do. It's there if you change your mind but the game's pretty easy to simplify and have a good time with if that's what you're after.

I find that all a bit odd and confusing too. When I’m in a race e.g. Seasonal and the competitors are all friends then I assume that’s just some random time with their name against it (using highly complex AI I’m sure based on past performance).

How do I find the actual times they’ve set I.e. leaderboard and perhaps race their actual ghost?

I stopped looking at accolades, they'd just ping off on the side of the screen every now and then when I was doing something, I'm numb to them now. That'll of course not be the case when I'm down to the last couple.

Yep I think that’s exactly how I’ll play it and I found RB last night 😀.

I'm not sure if we can find times, but we can find leaderboards on speed traps, danger signs, and trailblazer (?) events. The AI are pure AI, though, it just picks random friends as names. I've raced people who don't even have the game. Maybe we'll be able to race ghosts in the club? I've not played Forza since the original Horizon, but I'm sure there are veterans in here who will be able to tell you (and subsequently me) how to do that.

I wish I could switch the pseudo friends stuff off (can I?) and just have normal AI generated characters.

I think they use the term "Drivitar" or something. The game is supposed to learn your "driving style" and build and AI representation of that which it sends out into the world. I think they introduced this in the original Forza Motorsport  to make the AI drivers behave a bit more humanlike.

Although not actually sure how well it works... I did find the races a bit more challenging on the Forza Motorsport 5 when I played that with them in over 4.

Did a quick google search on it:-

https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/how-forza-s-drivatar-actually-works

(if anyone is that interested! :D) Quite like it myself... feels like you are racing more humanlike opponents.

If anyone has “my” drivatar, be warned it’s 99% my kid and if it’s an accurate rendition will spend most of its time straight-lining across the map until it hits something non-destructible.
-related note, can I set up a kid account on my game pass so that we can play this independently?

I doubt the drivatars learn much beyond whether they favour clean racing, drifting or whatever rather than actually emulating the player. If they did then anyone racing mine would have a very easy time indeed.

Would be the opposite for mine which would drive like the brakes had failed.

Yes you can, it's how we've got it set up. Gamepass is linked to my parent account and he's setup as the child. Anything either of us download is automatically available to the other, except I can then restrict his access because I'm an arse.

When you’re driving around the map, are the other cars with names above them other players, or drivatars? Only, there’s been a noticeable lack of griefing going on when I’m playing and, inevitably, spinning out and smacking into other road users.

Same here - my stepdaughter's original Xbox is the 'home' machine so she's got her own GP account.  Very useful with games like this.

When you're free roaming I believe the named cars are real players. They ghost out when they're near you so griefing is impossible, but you I think you can join them for convoys and challenges by beeping your horn at them.

In solo races the named cars are just drivatars, but obviously they're real for online ones.

Thanks.  That's how I remember FH4 working, but I swear I crashed into a few named cars during the free roaming mode.  I might be misremembering.

I believe you could switch collision off or was that in another game? 🤔

sweet. The wrinkle here is that we're both on a single PC but I will investigate what I can do to get it going.

Has anybody actually managed to get the Forzathon shop to load yet?

I have a ton of points but I haven't managed to get it to load once.

I’m guessing the Forzathon shop is going to go live tomorrow when the first official monthly Series begins. The current playlist is just an introductory week.
