Theres the ongoing joke that nobody has ever completed a Forza Horizon Game. But its very true with me as i always lose interest with the games after  a month.

I'm going to try my best to play this, if it is indeed " more of the same "

I suppose i can erase the previous games from memory and pretend this is my first one.

Indeed usually spend around 20 or so hours on them and then tail off. Why GamePass is ideal for me with this. Usually a month is enough for me. Don't really do the forzathon things etc.

Saying that might have a go this time and actually try to spend more time on it. Not like there are many AAA arcade racers to play this winter...and I like the game world in this one :)

Doesn't look like Forza Rewards are coming to Horizon 5 😟

Q: What about Forza Rewards?
A: As we previously announced, the Forza Rewards program is being discontinued and not applicable to Forza Horizon 5.  Note that additional in-game rewards and bonuses are available from FH5 VIP Membership, regardless of past Forza game history

Bit annoyed as I spent ages making sure I was at the top tier for when FH5 came out (although I'm still almost 700 points behind Boozy!)

It's easy to see that it's incredible at what it's trying to do, but I just don't get the appeal of open world racers. Driving between waypoints is so dull. And the scripted showcase things may as well be videos. It's stunning to look at but I'll go back to GRID and Wreckfest for my racing kicks for now.

Having said that, I blew the cobwebs off my 360 E this weekend (have a whole retro setup in the basement now) and fired up TDU 2. First, I had completely forgotten how Horizon has clearly evolved from TDU. Even the way you score as you drive, such as near misses. But mostly I just found it completely serene to be pootling about Honolulu in a WRX, painting the road on the map. I know walking simulators aren't for everyone though, and do love a good Wreckfest arena.

Gah. May as well delete that app now, then. I've got 60m in FH4 and nothing to spend it on, essentially (have bought every car I'm interested in). I was hoping to start saving money quickly through the app so I could gift cars to my son, who is much less interested in the racing and just loves to hoon it about the countryside.

At least he also gets the VIP super wheelspins, which is nice.

It's more that a section of this forum more than most is strangely allergic to the tone games like this adopt. Look at rider's Republic, same thing there.

It's old man yelling at clouds stuff.

It really isn't. This is a group of middle-aged producers falling into the 'how do you do, fellow kids?' routine. I can't believe that anyone actually thinks that bro talk bollocks is cool, even in the US market. I'd almost bet the customary rllmuk bollock on it. Someone has got it in their head that people are actually into it. No one is. I have yet to hear from anyone in the mythical target market for this crap. Everyone just complains. It's like a delusional urban myth!

Yeah it's all fake as balls. Everyone laughed at Need For Speed Payback and they are completely justified in laughing at this as well.

The prosthetic thing actually annoys me a bit as well. Lets skip crutches and wheelchairs and stumps and any disabilities that are ugly or might make people feel uncomfortable but these robot limbs are futuristic and cool. Like Iron Man. Totally Instagram Acceptable. You can't even have unevenly amputated limbs.

Sure but it's not really annoying either. Just stick Spotify on.

As you spend such a small proportion of the game actually engaging with the characters, it doesn't really bother me. It's not a big issue.

What DID really bother me was being so close to getting the Halo warthog in a wheel spin... only for it to agonisingly creep away and give me a fucking shitty dabbing emote.

By strange coincidence - it's almost as if the game came out yesterday and lots of people are playing it - today's Hit Points covers the Nozin' Aroun' vibes of Forza Horizon 5:

I really like the core argument, to the extent that I'm probably going to steal it and pretend it's my opinion. Basically, there's this conflict between the "hey kids, TikTok is peng! What's this? The Week Ends? It's got a good beat! Makes me want to floss!" aesthetic, and the fact that a game based on realistically modelling real cars based on a 20 year old franchise feels like it's aimed at dads/parents. As demonstrated in this thread by the core audience of the game getting very wound up by the presentation.

It's like I've just walked into my son's room. Just the sort of banal noise pollution I have come to expect!
