I just tried it too. It's so blurry and my eyes just don't like it. It doesn't matter if there is no pop up as it's all smeared in vaseline.

Depends what your playing it on surely. I’m on an Series S and the pop in is pretty distracting.

Loving this so far had around 8 or so hours on it now. When I first started out I was a bit disappointed the showcase event didn't give the wow factor and thought it was a horizon by the numbers.

 

However as I keep playing love the vibe of the game, the music and the scenery are fantastic. All running at a buttery smooth 60fps with a lovely draw distance on a 6 year old GPU. Impressive stuff.

 

Oh the racing is enjoyable too. Noticed this time they are timing the showcase events better too felt that they came a bit thick and fast in 4.

 

All this on GamePass too? Icing on the cake!

Are we (as the middle aged forum we are) really the core audience though? The only people I know in real life who are playing this game are all kids (based on my son's friendship group) and they all seem to fucking love it.

 

I'm not sure just because a franchise is 20 years old you can assume that it must be for a certain age group, otherwise no kids/20 somethings would be playing GTA or Call of Duty and we know that isn't the case at all.

I just think the music is utter shite. Like, another level of utter shite. 

 

Currently trying to get the 1000g. No one is playing the horizon arcade and it's annoying. 

 

Never noticed before in previous games but there seems to be a prestige system, I rolled over lvl 200 and now at 39.

How does playing online work on this, it seems very over complicated.

 

I just want to race a friend online.. what’s the easiest way to do this? I’ve done a load of races but still can’t seem to open the friends Menu and the convoy option (not really sure what that does) never connects and just hangs. 
 

So what’s simplest way to play a friend?

Start a convoy with your pal. Pick a race. Or go to open racing in the online tab and join. 

 

Online is all over the place right now though. 

 

When I do the random races with other players I can be waiting ages in between races and you think the game has crashed. I think one of the issues is that people are playing on last gen consoles and there can be a two minute loading time on them as opposed to a couple seconds on series X.

I mean yes, I wrote a big thing about how FH4 was really by dads for dads and people were just too short sighted to see it after people were moaning about it being "for the yoof" or whatever - the hip-hop station was 90s classics and not say, Soundcloud rappers, there was a 90s drum and bass station, or how it literally had a big series on 90s rallying, or another based on 90s videogames. A lot of the complaints weren't really based on very much, "it's so American" they complained about a British game set in Britain with a mostly British cast and a single American voice actor.

 

I don't think the solution people are really going to get or should get is "we should kick the ladder out of the treehouse and stop the kids getting in", I favour "stop being miserable gaming gammons"

I wish they’d let you have the in car audio even in the third person view. But yes, headphones and turning the radio down/off is the way to go.

Just started this. You know when you go into a race and you suddenly see lots of other people in the race on your friends list, that's not real, is it? It's not even ghost data, right? Just the game pretending to you and that you're playing with friends when they're actually CPUs.

Anyway, this is very pretty and very vroooom vroooom. So far it's very similar to FH4. I don't like all the shite popping up on screen all the time. I do like the actual races in it, though. I'll see how long I last with it.

If you are referring to me I’m not moaning about the choice, all for that, just that it’s at a game level. It’s user related information surely.

It’s an approximation, somewhere between what middle aged game devs think young people actually sound like and what voice actors hear their peers doing. It’s completely fine, it’s fantasy. It’s designed to be high energy and of a sunny disposition. It’s all throwaway. 
 

There’s also a harder truth here. Broadly, Gen-Z aren’t that into cars. They can’t afford them, they can’t afford insurance, they don’t like the environmental cost and they don’t connect with the sense of freedom and mystery that cars once afforded people. Cars aren’t a part of their lives to the same degree as previous generations and they’re often considered with disdain. Forza Horizon is a midlife crisis writ large, not a youthful reinterpretation of your Dad’s car game.

What do I need to do to unlock the club option? It just tells me to keep playing, but there are about a million things to do.

 

I just tried racing online with randoms and it took my F40 and gave me some stock Subaru shite. Then everyone else stomped me with better cars.

 

Then I nearly fell asleep.

unlock or do more of the adventures - at least one more site should do it,
