In fairness, Forza is the only game where I've understood what the nobs on Top Gear mean by things like 'feels quicker than it is'. Something about the handling model captures that really well for certain cars.

Some of the c class cars are like that. Those buggies 🥰

Objectively wrong opinion here.

The dirt racing on this is the best fun I've had in a racing game in over a decade.

The long race around the outside of the whole map (Goliath?) is the closest thing to Outrun that's been released since Outrun 2 on the 360. I picked a Ferrari for it and it was amazing.

Whole thing has a very Outrun feel in places...

Has anyone found the treasure for the new seasonal challenge?

It's tied to an achievement and I know exactly where it's supposed to be but it's not there.

I'm guessing there's an bug or it's tied to online side. I finished every single seasonal objective twice in the last season and didn't get the achievement for winning a championship.

Quite annoying as I only have a couple achievements to go and because online is fucked u can't get them.

On another note, I'm very glad BF is available and I can tear myself off this. Just need to collect all the cars (I have about 490 right now) but the last few are crazy expensive.

Only thing left for me is multiplayer, which is great. But the excruciatingly long wait times because of people on last gen hardware makes it a pain in the arse.

So I thought I'd have a go at the Festival stuff. Here are some mistakes I made so you don't have to!

I bought the 2017 GT-R, easy enough. However, as some danger signs were nearby, I started getting stars before first driving the 13 miles. Nope! They don't count. Drive the 13 miles first, just gun it down the motorway. Danger signs are easy, but the awesome drift (note, not e-drift, normal drift) was annoying in a gripy (even with everything turned off) during a race. Then I thought - what the hell am I doing, and just drove on the sand next to the track, pushed sideways, floored it, 2x awesome drift.

One other thing I didn't realize - I've got the house that gives double FP and that GT-R series gave 81, but that's not the points which unlock the car rewards. I got only got 3 points I think for doing all those GT-R related things. I guess FP are all about spending in the store?

Also - don't forget to claim your prizes for accolades. I had a bunch of cars and stuff unlocked but not actually claimed in the Accolades bit on the menu. Weird extra step.

Am I right in thinking that house bonus perks are always active, no matter which is your current home?

Although I'm really enjoying this there are a fair few graphical glitches and bugs that need ironed out. Most annoying one so far is when you set a marker to a point on the map and it mysteriously jumps to another location. First time it happened I thought I had done something wrong, but have counted 4 instances of this in two days now.

Yup. Also, when you roll up to a barn find, apart from the jarring sudden cut from you driving to the cut scene, my cars roll up the last few inches without the wheels spinning, the whole thing stops, and then the car creeps forward another few inches. Definitely "expansive game suffering from not enough QA time probably due to covid" vibes. Not that I care about this one, but the map waypoint thing is annoying.

No.

Once you buy the fast travel to any road house then nothing else matters anyway. Because load times take like a second you can really batter through the game.

Oh - as I have the FP house active, saving for the fast travel house, but I still see bonus songs which I thought also came from a house.

I think they are, as I always have the fast travel perk no matter which house is set as my home.

Am I missing something re leaderboards? They don't seem to be easily accessible. I did one of the seasonal challenges where you have to do a massive jump off the end of the airstrip and that was the first time I saw any MUK scores to compete against.

There’s a load in rivals. Less sure about individual parts of the game outside of that.

Re: leaderboards.

On the world map, you can view the leaderboard for Danger Signs, Speed Zones, and Trailblazers by pressing X on the icon. It seem that you can't do it with races, although they absolutely exist because I noticed I was placed 3rd on the "Friends/Club" board after a Road Race event, so retried and took the lead. But, I don't yet know how to find that again.

It's just another slightly odd thing in a game that constantly compares me against others in everything else. I care about race times far more than I do about roads driven on!

I had this issue earlier. I 'found' it, had the icon on the map and everything but no chest to drive into. Eventually I reloaded, drove back there and it was there 🤷‍♂️

I am loving it though.  I played/restarted one race a few times earlier and had memorised a lot of it, got in the zone and wow...it really does shine when you up the difficulty a little and race a good short track with the right car.  Reminded me of PGR2.

Anyone else had this odd issue where your car will just instantly slow down to sub 10mph?

Pretty sure I had this earlier. I was slowing down and offroad, but I stopped so suddenly I wondered if the game had frozen. Nope, I just stopped.

I know this is not for me but I thought I’d give it a go as I’m a driving game guy and I’ve got game pass. Graphically it’s very impressive but that’s about it. Just not my cuppa.

I drove at 160mph off roads in a supra with nothing I’m hitting at all slowing me down while the screen goes crazy giving all these points and bars filling up and text flashing like a fruit machine awarding me for doing nothing. U wot?

And then the un-skippable cut scenes of my low poly avatar I didn’t want to pick on an empty stage in-front of 20 people going woo as the announcer bigs up the nickname I didn’t want to pick as fireworks go off in the background as a DJ rambles on worse than I do even though I’ve turned it off in the settings. Is this what the kids like? Ok well fair enough then. God I’m old.

Where did you find it? I'm pretty sure I'm in the right spot but its not there.

Some of the event lab creations are amazing already. The Jurassic Park Dev created one put a smile on my face.

I'm planning on doing a Commando (The Arnie film, not me with no scants on) event with you barrelling down a hill with no engine.

Also want to make a T2 based one.

I really wish they a dedicated set in the main story that you can't ignore. There's a lot you can with it and I can imagine the developers will make some great stuff that a lot of people will miss.

Did you not play Wreckfest? Not trying to score internet points, just genuinely curious. It absolutely pisses on this.

Wreckfest took itself too seriously for me. I know that's odd to say about a game with lawnmowers in but it's definitely true.

Also I prefer open world racing games.
