On the bit…

Spoiler

Beaky wanted to unleash all of Samus’ Metroid DNA and turn her into the ultimate weapon. So he had to guide her through the planet and get her powers till she became full Metroid.

and Adam ALWAYS says ‘my lady’

One little thing about the Shinespark puzzles (that the game doesn’t make clear) is that you don’t need to hit the blocks perfectly.  As long as you make contact with one of group of them while Shinesparking it will chain-react & destroy them all.

I would suggest pushing on with that new ability, but you do you. Just don't get yourself lost.

I did.

Spoiler

Varia Suit get!

I love this game. I love how effortless it is to control Samus. And how could you get lost?

What’s the best way to dodge that sideways move he does in the second phase, slide or dash, either way I’m not reading it right.

I can do phase one easily now, but the 2nd is killing me.

Spoiler

Slide - assuming you’ve been space jumping round his 360 fire arc thing

Yeah I can do that ok, but get caught by a couple of his moves.

Spoiler

Thinking about it I am quite sure you can spacejump over him and that’s a safer option. His charge is telegraphed with a wind up animation.

Damn, can you not shinespark as a ball in a tunnel? I've been trying to do this puzzle in Ferenia for nearly an hour. I can get next to the block but it doesn't want to fire. Think I'll just have to study it on YouTube.

Edit: ok literally next try it somehow worked...no idea what I did differently. These things are going to drive me insane. 😅

I think this game may have some of the best bosses I've ever played in a videogame. Really nails that feeling of an impossible foe, but as you learn you are able to pretty much kill all of them with minimal damage.

Took me about 10 attempts to do the final boss, but by the end I was in no danger and could pretty reliably reach his final phase with full health.

Excellent game and immediately went back in to start hard mode.

Second last boss

Spoiler

I loved that he went down so easy. I’m the fucking most dangerous weapon in the galaxy by then. Nothing can stop me, not even the greatest Chozo warrior.

so I rock up to the end boss with confidence and then get absolutely battered and nope out again quickly.

One very nice touch...

Spoiler

...is that Beaky Boy uses the same moves in battle as he did in the opening cutscene when you first meet him. Samus even slides underneath his wide field attack. Nicely consistent.

Really stuck at another shinespark puzzle in Cataris... I get through two speed blocks through lava only to be sconed on the heid with a blue grapple beam block, but that can only be moved from what looks to be the area I'm trying to get to... and I can't find another way in.

hmmmm

*really* enjoying this part of the game.

It has however lead to my single criticisim so far - I find it really hard to find items on the map that I've *already* seen but haven't got yet.  I'm missing a single item in Artaria and I can't see it for the life of me.  It might be that I haven't found a secret exit somewhere, but my map areas are all revealed and there's no 'flashing' rooms.  Going skelly-eyed looking at the map for it.

You can highlight all things the same on the map with "Y" would highlighting an already found one then leave the unclaimed one highlight free perhaps?

yeah - I tried that, a wee QoL improvement that let you switch layers on and off completely would go a long way to help declutter the map when looking for a very specific thing

Sorry if this has been asked above, but: does the map always flash for every hidden item?

Want to mop up the last few before I finish but struggling in some areas with no sign of the helpful flash!

afaik - if you've been in that area and haven't uncovered the item, it'll flash.

I think I’m on the end game stuff now. Clock says 12 hours. That doesn’t count reloads right? Fairly certain I’ve spent 20+ actually playing. I can’t see any more slots on my character sheet to unlock and the computer is ‘trying to locate the Beak lord’.

I’m not sure I’m gonna 100% it because the slight fiddly nature of the control set combined with my old man cack handiness is going to make some of the more challenging items very tricky and frankly I have hundreds of other things to play. I’ve really loved it though. It’s actually gotten me back into gaming after being out of it for a few months.
