Abramovich says he’s going to sell and donate the proceeds. No other way out for him really.

I'm suspicious of this donation aspect, even leaving aside the "net proceeds" part.  Here's the quote - "I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine."  The money isn't being donated to an existing charity, but to one he is setting up and will control.  The "all victims of the war in Ukraine" part is ambiguous as well.  Perhaps poor Roman himself might be a victim of the war because he had to sell his precious Chelsea.

Would Levy sell? He didn’t entertain Man City’s offer (£100m?) and bids this summer will likely be lower.

Would they even come back for him, or move on to a target such as Haaland (who they’re favourites to sign)

Kane would elevate any side he moved to but where is his most likely destination if he were to move? He’d probably be fantastic for Chelsea but can’t see business being done between those two clubs.

I don't know why Bayern is never brought up as a possible destination. Is it just because English players don't typically go there and even not many premier league players are linked to the club or just they won't spend the amounts often spent on big players?

I was listening to a podcast today and they were saying 'if Bayern don't get Haaland, who are they going to get?' and Kane as always is never linked. Lewandowski is more prolific than ever but is 34 this August. Kane is 29 in July so not that much younger really but Kane's attributes are so similar it would make some senses if he's targeted as a replacement. And maybe there's some 11 that can fit them both in. Muller plays with Lewandowski and people would say Kane is a better passer than him. Checking some recent formations Muller in 4-2-3-1 has started as the no.10 and as one of the 2. Journalists on podcasts make out that Lewandowski is quite childish about Bayern flirting with Haaland.

Kane to United does seem the kind of move the club does, it ruins good players so one whose form has dropped this season doesn't seem like a good move. If he's depressed at Spurs then United isn't going change his mood.

There’s never really been a tradition of established British players going overseas. Obviously a few exceptions, but rarely anyone whose gone abroad has achieved much.

John Charles arguably the most successful, maybe Keegan at Hamburg or McManaman at Real. But for every one of those there’s an Ian Rush likening being in Italy as ‘like living in a foreign country’.

Wages in the Premier League are now likely to be the biggest obstacle to players leaving. Few clubs are going to match what they’re on here. It’s a shame that the most British players usually travel overseas is during their summer holidays.

Early Bale at Real was pretty successful.

I can’t think of a modern example but Batistuta spent 9 years tearing it up a Fiorentina winning just a couple of cup competitions then moved to Roma when he was 31 and won Serie A in his first season with them. Bayern don’t pay the kind of transfer Spurs would want or wages Kane would demand, especially for what would be his last big contract.

I don't understand this really, Lewandowski is apparently on £300,000-£350,000 a week. Kane is on £200,00 a week. He's desperate to win trophies and other than Man City, there's no better guarantee. Spurs aren't matching that Bayern wage with a new contract I don't think.

Lewandowski's current contract was signed when he was 31.

Lewandowski arrived on a free transfer and had been at Bayern for five years before he earned that contract due to his ridiculous scorijg rate. Kane  would mean a large transfer fee and salary and is also a lot more injury prone than Lewandowski. But if Kane did go there he’d be guaranteed to win something.

I mean just Kane denying himself the opportunity to play for Bayern because he'd demand beyond £300,000 a week, £100,000 more than his current wage when he's not as prolific any more. (Not like that won't change).

He'd be a free transfer in summer 2024. I can't see it happening but then Ramsey on a free to Juventus seemed to come out of nowhere. For Bayern and Kane I don't see why that wouldn't work for both. Just read some links with Lewandowski to Psg, probably made up.

There’s also the consideration that spurs wouldn’t be strengthening a direct rival if Kane went overseas.

As well as Bayern there’s also PSG , particularly whilst Poch is there.

I doubt Poch will be at PSG next season.

Also given that Chelsea got Abramovich when the Matthew Harding money had all but run out I fully expect them to get another sugar daddy owner next. I do wonder how hard the Saudi’s are kicking themselves that they didn’t wait a few more months but you just know Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk or someone will decide they need to throw a quarter of a billion a year at the wage bill of a football club.

Pochettino is confirmed to be leaving at the end of this season isn't he? Sure I read that, not suggestions, confirmed. Can't find anything now. I'll be really surprised if he stays longer. Neither are happy with eachother.

I think Zidane will take over and he'll finally get to manage Pogba if he goes there. But Pochettino to Spurs, Conte to Psg would funny. Not that unlikely Real Madrid part with Ancelotti and Pochettino goes there.

I don't know where the jeopardy can be found in that CL format, except for a small handful of clubs hanging around the 24th placed cut-off.

Everything else is a glorified friendly with mild bragging rights at stake and a big envelope of cash.

Which is exactly what the big club owner likes.  Lots of cash, little risk.

He didn’t say it.

I didn’t actually say Italy was “like living in a foreign country”. No one has ever seen a direct quote from me saying that. I’m blaming Kenny Dalglish. When he re-signed me, a reporter asked me, “Why have you come back?” Kenny quipped, “He said it was like playing in a foreign country”. He’s got a lot to answer for!

Makes me love King Kenny even more.

Meanwhile, in Spain. Woof!
