Any reason Spurs haven’t gone for Rafa?  Available, hugely experienced in the pl.  Aside from wages would seem to be an ideal signing?

He's not actually any good apart from cultivating the fanbase to turn against the owner?

I may be biased, but I can see why a manager might be wary of going to Spurs. It's going to be a grim job. You're going to be tasked with breaking into the CL teams again whilst your squad needs work, your star player is probably off and there's no money.

There's probably another job that has a higher degree of a chance at success of some sort without the inherent difficulties elsewhere.

I was approached to take over at Spurs earlier today, as it happens.  I didn't apply, I got an unsolicited phonecall with the offer.  After discussions with Daniel Levy over lunch, I've decided to pull out of the running.  Good news though, Spurs fans - as he was leaving the meeting, I saw Mr Levy strike up a conversation with a guy who was rifling through some bins and shouting about spiders stealing his thoughts.  They seemed to be getting on well, and the last I saw, Levy was pulling some papers and a pen out of his briefcase, so I think you might have a new manager announced shortly.  👍

Tough call who is in worse shape, think Arsenal got a marginally better overall squad and some talented youngsters, but lots of dead wood overpaid older players to still move on. Spurs are Kane and Son then the drop off is steep.

We’re also not a billion quid in debt, mortgage on the stadium or not.

Recruitment wise both have to pay over the odds to tempt established names (players or managers) and take increasingly desperate punts on managers to restore glory.

I haven't really seen him play much but £28m for Tomori from Chelsea to AC Milan sounds a big fee, I know Chelsea like splashing the cash but they aren't too bad at getting some back in too, especially from their huge youth setup.

So Ramos to Man Utd on £300k a week then ? Would be funnier to see him play for Liverpool but doubt they'd pay him that.

According to my Milan supporting mate Tomori has been hugely responsible (along with Kjaer) for their position in the league this year. He also looked very good when he played for Chelsea I thought. I suspect £28m will turn out to be a bargain.

Arsenal, from a comparison between the two squads, are clearly in a worse position than Tottenham. This summer might change that, however. It's laughable to even consider Arsenal being better that Tottenham right now.

As for Tottenham managers, they could do a lot worse than looking at Graham Potter, especially considering they haven't managed to attract anyone else.

What about Eddie Howe if you are looking at Potter levels?

Most Spurs would be quite happy with Potter going by the Tottenham forum I read, I would be too as well tbh.

I’m not sure how Potter would do at international level as he seems like a guy where the magic happens on the training ground and he won’t get the time he needs with England but I do think he’ll do really well at any Premier League side with a decent budget.  Spurs seem like a really good fit for him because if he can get them playing the kind of football Brighton play but have Kane and Son getting on the end of chances instead of Wellbeck and Maupay then it could be amazing.

I love that "Foot like a traction engine" has made its way far enough into the culture that an (American?) ESPN guy tweeting about MLS will use it.

I think he's a brit but it didn't pass me by either

Spurs are insane to turn that down. It’s crazy money for a player of his age.

But they won’t even though it would be good for both parties. It might even help extend Kane’s career because he won’t have to play all the time because City have the depth to allow him some rest during the season and don’t need to rush him back from injury every tune.
