If this goes through (it won't) who will Spurs panic buy on deadline day this time because Levy has drawn the transfer out as long he can.

Olivier Giroud.

With his recent injury history too, it's an awful lot of money.

His injury problems are overstated. He mainly gets one injury per season and is over played and rushed back by Spurs (which is the main problem). He also won the golden boot only this season and he's never made less than 30 appearances in a season for spurs.

He's hardly Daniel Sturridge.

Spurs are insane to turn that down. It’s crazy money for a player of his age.

Goals, assists, leadership qualities and part of the Homegrown quota all combined? It'll cost more than that to replace his contribution to the team than that, so I don't think it's particularly unreasonable.

Why are Man United trying to buy Sancho? He can't even get into the England team, except as a sub in a game that doesn't matter.

He must be rubbish!!

I really hope this is irony.

Favre to Palace? How do you feel about that @skadupuk?

Much like Nuno, I'll only believe it when he's put pen to paper.

Has a decent record and plays a style of football that fits Palace (and suits EPL survival, for us poorer teams).

If he's given money for players, and we bring in 4 or 5 decent ones I'll be feeling positive for the new season.

I like away goals too, but the explanation from UEFA sounds totally reasonable - average goals per match scored at home/away, and gap between home/away wins is reduced, this is from all games from 1970 till now.  In other words, there's a trend towards being more conservative in the home games.

You can prove anything with facts!

I seem to be the only football fan who really likes away goals. Isn't this going to take us back to the days where the first leg is extremely negative.

Away goals are great, and the only thing that needed changing with them was getting rid of their favouring a side in second-leg extra time. Knockout football will be the poorer for their loss.

I always disliked away goals, just not a relevant way to decide a 2 leg tie of football and they're a relic of a bygone age of difficult travel, poor hotels/grounds and hostile environments.

My view may be coloured by Arsenal going out eight times on away goals rule and only qualifying once

But Spurs winning on away goals against Ajax in the Champions League was one of the most memorable moments of football of the last five years.  Away goals provide huge drama.

I’m warming to the 24 team format too, my argument against it is that it removes a lot of jeopardy from the group phase but match day 3 this year had far fewer dead rubbers than it would present in a 16 team format.  We certainly wouldn’t have had the Group F drama without that third place rule.
