I haven't seen the other angles which by all accounts exonerate the defender but that angle is the one the ref got and he only gets one look so you can really see why it was given.  I've no idea why he was flying in there in that part of the pitch.

One of those where you shouldn't give the ref the opportunity to make the wrong decision.

The fucking Franchise are at Plough Lane today. If they win they can go top, meanwhile we’re 1/3 for relegation. Tickets have been restricted so it doesn’t look likely to sell out but there’s still the likelihood of trouble. Should have been at 12 o’clock kick off in my opinion.

I had a bad dream on Thursday night that there was loads of one-on-one boxing on concrete terraces and we were sent to some obscure island league as punishment.

My heart rate hasn't resumed normal since I took my seat for the 5-4 Dover game. I think if I'd maybe spent two weeks in bed in a dark room I'd have stood a chance of recovering, but these bastards keep topping me up. This time coming from behind to win again with another stoppage time goal. A penalty, the most stress inducing and jubilant of finales to a game. We were definitely not at our best, but who cares. I suppose Eastleigh do, but fuck em, their time wasting was quite something.

No promotion for Notts County this year

Hopefully not because I want Wrexham up, but I was looking at the fixtures for all the sides towards the top of the table the other day and Notts County are playing bottom of the table sides for the rest of the season. I think you can nab 5th off Chesterfield who have a far harder run in.

5-1 obviously ended up being a bit of battering yesterday, but Torquay have been generally decent since their poorish start to the season. Apart from Stockport and Grimsby back in September they are the only side to beat us when we've had 11 players on the pitch.

A tough one on good Friday next for us against Solihull who have been unbeatable for weeks.

Didn't lose to the Franchise, there was no large-scale disorder, but it still looks like we'll be in League Two next season (but better than Guernsey as I dreamt).

The new manager seems like he's toughened up the side pretty effectively so we're still in with a chance of staying up.

70% chance of relegation going into today.

Pretty sure we need a) to beat Crewe who are relegated but have a new manager, b) Charlton to beat Morecambe, and c) Cheltenham to beat Gillingham to stand a chance of staying up. Tantalisingly possible but not particularly likely.

Ipswich :bye:

All that cash splashed. Welcome to League 1 next season.

Playing Rotherham…. Who beat them at home 0-2, an away result of 0-1 wasn’t awful to be fair, it’s an improvement, and shows the team are actually doing better now there isn’t a fucking idiot in charge of the team.

I was I a nice waterfront bar where there were a lot of town fans watching the game, none of them were upset by the result. Disappointed, perhaps, but it was a good performance considering the league position of the two teams, the win put Rotherham back into automatic promotion, they had a LOT to play for, ipswich? Fuck all really, the hope of getting to the play offs was faint to begin with.

Shame we couldn't snatch a winner yesterday against Solihull with Stockport losing. The gap would have been down to just 5 points with Stockport still to come to The Racecourse. Solihull are a good side though and started the match brilliantly. A side we could well meet in the playoffs, so I suppose it was a positive that we still had the better of the majority of the game. First time I've been up on the train for a few pints of Wrexham around town in a couple of years, rather than a couple in the same pub nearby, and it's noticeable how buzzing the whole place is at the moment. Pubs overspilling, a stage in the Turf pub car park adjacent to the ground with pre and post match partying. There were almost 10.000 there at the game. Such high spirits around, a sense that things are on the up, that I honestly don't think would be dented too much by playoff failure.

Jesus. This is ridiculous. We looked nailed on a few weeks ago for a top six finish. We have Sunderland tomorrow at home, then Wigan away, then MK Dons at home.

I don't think we'll make it. Our top scorer and our captain are both out injured.

How long are they out for? If you're not confident of getting the required points against the top sides now then presumably you're also not going to fancy your chances against them in the playoffs. MK Dons may well have nothing to play for in that final game, with their minds on the playoffs, so that might not be as hard as it looks. And I also see that Wycombe still have to play Sheffield Wednesday.  Simply beat Sunderland tomorrow and you're almost there. The pressure's going to be on them I'd imagine. What are you worried about? :)

@Fatsam - our captain Joe Edwards sets the tempo and Ryan Hardie gives us something different up front. Since they've been out, we've been flat.

We're in a good position but I've been here so many times. Compared to the other contenders, we've overachieved and our squad is small. We've only got three defenders left to pick from too.

Ah shit. Any chance of getting them back before the end of the season? Smaller squads do frequently fall away a bit as the season progresses. You can see it in our league with Boreham Wood collapsing. Someone posted the agent fees paid by non league clubs for the 12 months up to the end of January the other day, a crude but decent indication of recent player spending, and Halifax aside the top 7 will end up being the biggest spenders in the league. Had we still been trying to live sustainably under the Wrexham Supporters Trust, I wouldn't have fancied our chances at all this season. Particularly after making a big loss with no crowds last season. Yeah, I'd probably be a bit down and moany by this point in that alternate reality.

Good win for us today against Cheltenham 3-0 which cemented our position in the league for next year. 4 consecutive seasons in the 3rd tier for the first time since the early 80s. Phew. It was a bit touch and go over the last few months for a while.   I wasn't there today but did go to Fratton Park on Saturday to see us go down fighting 3-2, after coming back from 2-0 down.

One more game for me - Crewe at home for the last game of the season. (See you there @Gigawatt?)

Clear out and a bit of a refresh in the summer. Bring on Pride Park and Oakwell away next season.

Yes it was a great game today, 3-0 up after 20 mins against a team who never really turned up. I think after that the team didn’t really know what to do having never been in such a good position all season. Even when the Cheltenham striker found himself with an open goal he managed to hit the post which is pretty much the opposite of the luck we’ve had all year, so that was nice.

Our first home 0-0 against Sunderland. We probably had the best chances but it was tense and a point earned. We've had six clean sheets in a row at home. The worry though is goals. We've scored once in five games. Another probable injury too. We have Wigan and MK Dons left. It's squeeky bum time. Of all the sides in and around the play offs, I think we're the least likely now. The perils of a small squad and an over reliance on key players.

It was a good atmosphere and fair play to the Sunderland fans traveling all that distance on a bank holiday.

Ah bollocks.

A golden opportunity to close the gap to 4 points after a surprise Stockport loss and we blow it with our worst performance in ages and first defeat in a while. Some individuals racing around, but I think we looked a bit tired as a team today.

Woking 2 Wrexham 1

At least it's easing us in to any future playoff defeat misery. Should lessen the blow a touch.

I do love how everyone who's in the play off spots in the National League is always pessimistic about their chances

Seen it all before, a billion times, we're all doomed. 6 teams. Ninety Eight Points we finished once in the league and didn't get promoted through the playoffs.

98.

Spoiler

the reds are going up

We might not make the playoffs and we're on 80 points. Even if we win next Saturday, we could still miss out.

Just had a look. Ooooo that is tight.

Exeter won today and promotion is now so, so close. After all the play-off final defeats in recent years, it would be very nice to go up automatically.

You deserve it. You've been up there with regularity for years.

An absolute sickener yesterday, we were leading fellow strugglers Fleetwood, then in the 88th minute our goalie had a brain fart when taking a free kick in our box. He either forgot or didn't know it was a free kick, and touched it forwards a couple of time before punting it away. Naturally Fleetwood scored from the indirect free kick to level the match. What makes it even more gutting is that other matches went our way.

The first relegation in 22 years stings a lot, but you can't say it hasn't been coming as we've always struggled in League One.
