I was in the shit with all you, trying to pay for like an hour from 6pm. I stopped to have my dinner and a couple beers, then thought I’d try again. It seems to have gone through now, but no indication if I’m getting some of the first allocation or a later batch or whatever. Reckon I’ll be able to stump up the full amount for one at launch, or am I being punted to 2024 or something?

Same as me. I'll update if I get confirmation.

Just got the confirmation e-mail!

Bet I don't get it until Summer next year though, that's the timing the main Steam Deck page was giving when I tried to order again.

Finally the 512gb went through. Added funds to wallet then paid. It said the transaction had failed and greyed out the purchase button.

Went to the cart and it said I already owned it. A few minutes later I got the confirmation email. Now when I go to my order history it is there saying paid.

I think the ETA was Q2 2022!!!!!

Still I reckon a lot of people will probably cancel so I suppose I could be bumped up the queue.

But overall, bloody hell. If a company as rich as Valve can't get server capacity right then there is no hope for anyone.

Argh, I got thie shit one by mistake.

:(

Haha! :D Well, that makes me feel a bit better about getting the shit one on purpose!
Hope the storage is like off-brand chinese usb drive from ebay tier. Corrupted and unusable after one reboot!

I don't get the Steam Deck logo. Am I missing something obvious?

I think it's the thumbstick from the top, if that helps. Bit bland and generic, innit?

My son wants this as his birthday/Christmas present.

Can only afford the 64gb one which we reserved. Can it be upgraded? Or is he stuck with 64?

It has a micro sd card slot though for most the issue isn't capacity. It's being stuck with the slow onboard storage as opposed to a nvme ssd

Unfortunately you won't likely be able to get one for Xmas outside of the secondary market.

We got in on the original batch. So should be good.

I still can’t seem to preorder one. Anyone managed to place their preorder?

edit: I can click on ‘Reserve now for £4’ and the button goes black. But then nothing happens. The button goes white again after a while. Am on iPhone....

That was what I experienced. I just had to keep going.

I'm surprised this is so in demand. Is it because of all the money folk had put aside for a Switch Pro?

It's a cool idea but I don't get the frantic clamour

It just hit me why this is so attractive: it has all the advantages of the Switch but without any of the disadvantages.

To be nit picky it has a very 2017-era chunky bezel around the screen.

But that’s being nit picky. Otherwise it’s literally the first 30 odd years of gaming in a handheld, made by people who should by now (hopefully) know what they’re doing.

and it looks like a game gear or lynx!!!
