it's been stuck on 'your parcel is at the delivery depot and we'll let you know when it's out for delivery' since saturday morning, can't tell if i've passed the point of worrying about it disappearing or not

I'd give it another couple of days, personally - if it hit the depot on Saturday, nobody's touching it until Monday for assigning to a delivery driver, and then another day for the actual delivery route.

I got my shipment email for my Deck Dock. It's being sent via GLS, so likely coming from NL again. I imagine it'll be at least a week before I get it.

I so loads of tips saying to download the latest version of Proton GE and I was just wondering what the difference is between that and WINE GE? 

 

Does heroic prefer one over the other?

Wine GE is technically what you should be using on anything outside of Steam. GloriousEggroll goes over it here - long story short, it features backports of compatibility patches that Valve might not include with Proton.

 

With Heroic and Lutris, try to use WineGE whenever you can as a good habit. You're likely not going to fuck anything up of you don't and the game works fine - but if it doesn't work, it's the first thing you'll likely be asked to check by angry Linux loons on the internet.

I prefer headphones that are over ear and open backed.

I mostly stick to the Xbox Wireless headphones for ease of use, but I don't think any wireless solution is particularly good because of Bluetooth delay, and it's not like the Deck has more than one USB to stick a dongle in. I'm not sensitive to it outside of rhythm games, but you might end up tearing your hair out over it.

 

I'd probably go with whatever the fuck Dankpods recommends, because he's the goodest lad. Here's a starter guide on cheap/good cans.

I'd been getting cross at PSN for quite a while with Pixeljunk Shooter not being available on any of the services, I had it back on PS3 and really wanted to have a play again.

 

Looked on the off chance and not only is it on Steam but its deck verified and only £7 - still plays brilliantly and looks lovely on the smaller screen.

The deck at least has a proper headphone jack. So really any decent headphones will do. I wouldn't bother with 'gaming' ones.

Got this working.

 

If you installed via Heroic then used the built in Add to Steam within Heroic, then go into Steam in Gaming Mode and remove it.

 

Go back to Desktop and then manually add via the Steam Client

 

Should be /home/deck/Games/Heroic/Gloomhaven/GH.exe

 

Still in Desktop Steam, find the game and use the Gear Icon to use Proton GE 7.29

 

Return to gaming mode and launch. You should then get a prompt to log in to Epic Games Store.Login as normal and do your 2FA, it should return to the game and finish loading

 

Further instructions here but seems OK apart from very small text in game. No need to re-install, start from Step 3 after removing the game from Gaming Mode. Downside is you lose your icons etc

Arctis 7X with the USB C dongle work well for me, obviously any Arctis 7 (or Nova 7) model will work fine but I wanted the option to use them with the Xbox too.

My lack of delivery clusterfuck situation is still ongoing. Mine has been stuck on it's at the depot and we will let you know when we're delivering it for 12 days now. 

 

My original ticket to steam listed the issue as of 4 days ago. They responded after 48 hours saying DONT WORRY ITS SHIPPED! Fuckers. 

 

I have responded today stating that it's been nearly 2 weeks since it arrived in the UK, and I have no deck. Can they find out what's going on please?

 

I fully expect them to just say we have refunded you the money at some point soon. 😒

 

Then I will have to decide if I want to run the gauntlet of GLS/Evri delivery again.

Ordered mine on Sunday, got the invite to pay today. Which one did you order? Went cheap for once and went for the 64GB. It's going to mainly be an emulation device for now and then an Elden Rings machine once my Switch backlog is cleared  Plus maybe a bit of Halo 1.

I already have the 512GB Deck; I ordered a Dock.

 

For me the Deck is my "dedicated gaming PC", mainly there to unlock the hundreds of games I (somehow) gathered on Steam and to have yet another portable version of Super Metroid with proper buttons/triggers available. The Dock is just icing on the cake.
