Man, how you got time for all these new games 🤣

Are you new here? Nobody got time for all these new games. It's our collective shame.

He's not delivering Lack shelving units across the continent.

And is, I assuming, following the classic Steam thing of playing about an hour of everything.

Lot less fan noise with those settings, it looks a little less shiny and pretty but you just don't notice that when blatting along.

Being a masochist and wanting to play the track of the day I decided to go for the annual pass for c£9, purchase hung on final step in the store, had to hard reset the deck but reloading the game it's all there.

Seems to hang on an exit from main menu to back to Steam

Gameplay is great though, and the daily track from yesterday already got me questioning the sanity of buying a year of this !

Was the daily track from yesterday the one from the 1st Feb? If so don't sweat it. The first of each month is the LOL Cup Of The Day track and is always a crazy pretty random thing. The other days are much more normal.

(Not that I play them but I watch COTD on Twitch most days)

I am what the government refers to as 'economically inactive'

I packed up work a couple of years back so now get to stick a couple of hours a day into the odd game or two ! - it's where the Deck is so perfect as doesn't dominate the tv and I'm not spending fortunes on drip feeding the habit.

plus I never really get obsessed by a game and stick 100h into it, I play them until I've had enough and move on, I've got 10h plus on a few though on deck which I haven't achieved in years on the main consoles.

I was watching the Digital Foundry review of the new PlayStation controller and it really brought home how insanely good value the Deck is.

£349 and you get almost all of the features of that pad but you can also get a screen and a full PC.

To top it all off you can get roughly the same battery life lmao

To give an idea how widespread not playing games you've bought is, I just finished world 1 (of 4) in Super Magbot, 27 short levels that take a lot of repeats to clear but a clean run only lasts 10-25 seconds in each.

The achievement for doing that is only gained by 36% of players.

You could argue the game is too hard or frustrating but I didn't find that, it's pretty good, though the slidey ice floor introduced in the second world may be a step too far and my 90p of fun may not stretch much further, we'll see.

Trackmania feels made for this machine, it just plays and suits it so well.

Fuck sake :( Sooner Ubisoft clear house the better.

I'm still playing Dungeons of Dreadrock (85/100 levels done), and I love it. It's a wonderful little game. It feels like it's straight from the era of when mobile games had promise. (but with wonderful, pad controls and non-of-that-nonsense).

Has anyone played Neon White, and what it like with gyro controls on deck?

I've played it, but I didn't use gyro. Runs and plays great, though. I can check if there's a premade profile for gyro, give me a minute or two.

Edit: yeah, there's at least three profiles catering to gyro with a few hundred hours racked up, I reckon it's fine.

A bunch of us have put a fair amount of hours into this. It’s wonderful, and plays incredibly well on the Deck. It’s probably too fast paced to mess around with gyro though, the normal controls work just fine.

stable proton update last night promoted the fix from experimental meaning that Trackmania will now launch fine, just checked and all good

it may be the most perfect deck game I've played - it somehow just fits and feels so good, the stripped down track graphics, blazing fast speed at 60fps which is close to your face on a handheld, razor sharp controls and perfect bite size chunks of game which can be turned into a longer play session

So what, it installs and runs without and faff? Or do you still need to mess with the comparability settings?

no faff, runs out the box, the vid I posted last page are just some in game graphics settings to optimise, but all in menu, not out in the steam os

those tweaked settings get it running at a solid 60fps with no noticeable graphic degradation and much less fan noise and battery draw, 30m or so just now only used 15%

you will need to sign into an Ubisoft account or create one on first launch, but clean otherwise.

This is really good

played a bit of the demo earlier, instantly got and liked the mechanic but not a good sign that I got a bit bored of repeating the same old battles without dying, even when only playing for 10-15m.

know it's a demo, liked the central mechanic but in a rogue like game the hook needs to be there, a boring repeat loop isn't a good thing.

I find prologues tend to be easier then main games to try and give you decent vertical slice of all the mechanics. I'm not worried as long as the price is right
