Another Q1 to Q2 here. Gutted. Was going to be my Elden Ring machine. No way I can wait until May (likely at the earliest) to play it.

Oddly, got no email from Valve though. Anyone else not get a delay email?

I did, maybe check your spam folder?

Mine just says “after Q2”. How long after Q2, Gabe? How long?!

There is an irony in the Steam Deck turning out to be vapourware.

Wonder if this just shifts the whole production schedule along or allows them to build up some units and have a bigger launch meaning those of us with later dates don't necessarily go back 2m.

I work in electronics and I’m not surprised at all about this, pretty much every component manufacturer is miles behind at the moment and lead times of 12 months are not uncommon for parts. So even someone the size of Valve is not immune to this. Some of my boards are delayed for single components where there isn’t any viable alternative.

I think 2 months of delay is extremely optimistic. I ordered an ebike in June. They said it would be later than usual because of supply constraints - August, they said.

Still no sign. Latest? 'We hope to start production in 2-3 weeks'. Every company is underestimating the delays, either deliberately or because their suppliers are just as desperately in the dark as everyone else.

Yeah everything Evercade has found itself delayed at some point and Analogue, whose default state is horribly delayed during the good times might as well just give up.

Just cancelled my reservation. Had a proper think and realised the only things I do mobile these days is check the news and read mags on my tablet. Everything else is far more enjoyable on the big screen

Sorry to hear this *check if I've moved up in the queue*

Your expected order availability: After Q2 2022 🤬

I'm thinking about cancelling as well.

I have an RG351V with about 80000 games on it and I barely use it. I only seem to use it if I'm traveling for a break or holiday and that doesn't happen very often.

The only reason I wanted one really was to play all the PC only classic I have missed over the years (oh and PES 5 and Championship Manager) as I've not been a PC guy since the 90s.

Maybe if my work decide that I'm back in the office permanently then I will pick one up as that's a 3 hour a day commute. But If I got one I wouldn't use it as I would rather play my next gen consoles on the TV while laying on the couch.

Yeah I love my RG351 but what it actually seems to be most of the time now is a machine I demo games on before I buy them from a CEX or whatever for real hardware :D

From theverge:

SCANT SLOWDOWN OVER SD (AND EMMC)

The entry level $400 Steam Deck only comes with 64GB of comparatively slow eMMC storage and a microSD card slot for expansion — you’ll have to pay notably more for the faster models with NVMe SSDs, and even then they’ll be fairly easy to fill with a decent-sized Steam library of games.

But today, Valve assured developers that eMMC and SD aren’t that much slower: roughly 12 percent and 18 percent slower respectively when it comes to loading games. (Yes, the Y-axes are either mislabeled or don’t line up with the bar graphs.)
