Yup, new. Progress is locked behind story progression but none can be failed until very late in the game (and the game warns you even then).

And yes, this involves backtracking. The map really does you no favours when it comes to that, I just completed a "collection" mission and it was far from fun. The map could really truly use a custom marker option.

Doesnt the right stick click literally show you the way?

This is a strange one.  Dead space is a game that i would  have sworn that i played when it first came out, but it turns out i havent (the shaazamm effect).  I downloaded the original on game pass to have a try (again as i thought i had played it before) and after 30 mins (and realising nope i never had) decide to grab the remake as i liked what i played in the opening section.

This was just an amazing blast from start to finish.  Played it in graphics mode on my series x and never had any issues with slow down etc.. the game just played great and looked stunning the whole 9 hours it took me to complete it.  Also loved the soundtrack very reminisant of the first alien movie.   Its been a while since a single player game grabbed me that i wanted to keep on playing and playing and playing to see how it all unfolded (prob elden ring this time last year was that last game that grabbed me like this).

now that it done it,  ive download Dead Space 2 on xbox - and its looks pretty good running on the series x

Now to consider if I want to do the Impossible run. 1 save, 1 life.

Spoiler

This sounds nightmarish as all it takes is a misstep and you get decapitated by the vine/tentacle throwing bastards. I think even the vines themselves can one shot you.

However...

Do it.

Do it!!!

Everything makes me jump in it. Even when most of the scares are in the same place as they were before (or at least they are from memory - I'm sure they've changed it up a fair bit).

It is a great remake. Solid. Plays really well. I think it does feels a little dated in terms of gameplay mechanics, but that's okay.

Like I'm sure someone else has said, it feels and looks like the game I remember playing years back. But you then look at the graphics closeup and realise it's just so much more detailed it's untrue.

I’ll tell you what makes me jump and that’s the bug I’ve had twice with invisible enemies that glitch into existence in their attack animation and then go invisible again. Also had invisible projectiles from an invisible enemy during the meteor bit (both got me killed) and then a bit on the bridge where I couldn’t progress because

Spoiler

The enemy that busts through the door

didn’t do that and I had to restart the game. There’s been the occasional coffee cup floating in mid air (and not in a zero G bit).

Ok, plan before attempting Impossible:

- Rinse NG++ for enough nodes to update ALL weapons for trophy.

- New Hard run as practice. Probably saving at the start of each chapter and replay were applicable to learn pathing, enemy movement, inventory planning, choke points etc.

- Impossible

Edit: wait, it’s much easier than it sounds.

Quote

Impossible is set to Hard difficulty for how much damage you take and deal, but autosave will be turned off, you will only have one save slot (you can overwrite this one save at every save point as often as you want so essentially infinite saves but limited to one slot), and if you die the save file will immediately be reverted to Hard.

I thought One Save meant just one save, not one save slot.

Can anyone tell me when the bench thing happens. You know what I mean. It's really doing my nut.

I did laugh earlier when an airlock opened and the gravity mysteriously went off. I used to think gravity and oxygen were the same thing and all the gravity would leak out with the oxygen in space if there was an opening. When I was about 5.

I think this suffers from not having a lead character who engages more with the support cast, and a lack of cinematics to help tell the story. Compared to games like the Resident Evil 2 Remake and TLOU 1/2 I just find I don't really care about the story or characters.

The only reason I haven't got this is because I played the original through about 3 times. Is it worth getting this ie. Are the changes worth it or is it mostly shinier graphics?

Quite fancied this - saw it advertised when I booted up the series X

70 quid

HAHAHAHA get tae fuck

I don't know if the EA Pro sub thing works for consoles but I'm playing this on PC for £15.

Also tried the surprisingly good latest Need For Speed game too so it's fair value although I'll be cancelling once the month is up as EA have little to interest me long term.

It's PC only. As for the future, there's Jedi Survivor in April.

Aah, right, sorry for the bad advice!

I'll probably resub a month for that. I presume it's a sequel to the last Jedi game, the one with the little robot?
