Morrowind GOTY

You can sell any item in the game to Creeper, no matter how valuable, by using the regenerating money trick posted above. It takes time though.

Also, I would argue that it pretty much ruins the game, as with unlimited funds you can enchant virtually everything you own. Then again, what's the point in having a sword worth 120k if you can't sell it.

Ideally you would have a trading system as well...if money is scarce wouldn't these people barter and haggle, using items for trade as well as?

Or why can't you rob a bank, all that money has to go somewhere/be somewhere...

Good point actually. I just really love the mudcrab. Just the thought of selling stuff to him still makes me laugh.

Cool. It really adds to the enjoyment if you have a friend to discuss tactics etc with.

This is SO true. Telling eachother about secret missions and trying to boast about your swanky new sword is really satisfying and makes playing feel more worthwhile. There's just so much to talk about that if you DO have friends who play it, they can, in effect, turns a one-player game into a multi-player game.

I loved the original game until it broke and dirty disk errors made it impossible to carry on. I'm half tempted to pick up the GOTY version but I think I'll wait and let you lot be guinea pigs before I take a punt. ;)

PS Did any of you ever try building things out of all the pillows laying around? I had the beginnings of a nice tower before my game broke.

That's the best idea ever!

I'm going on a pillow stealing spree once I get a nice house.

I remember reading that Pirates of the Carribean was Morrowind with pirates, unfortuantely it isn't, that would make a great game.

No, but what I DID do was I found some boat which had been shipwrecked which had about 30 pillows on it. On the boat there was also a slip of paper saying that the pillows should be delivered to some lady in Balmora. So I picked up ALL the pillows and took them to the lady. She however, didn't respond to the fact I was holding her pillows so I went upstairs into her storeroom where she keeps her pillows and spread out ALL of them on the floor trying to cover as much of the floor as possible.

When I'd finished it made the whole room look like there was some sort of layer of snow covering the floor. That was one of the most pointless BUT ALSO most satisfying "missions" I've done.

I have made towers out of other things though - books work quite well.

Ok, ANOTHER really pointless thing I did once was this; before I handed myself in to the police after commiting some crime I had to put down all my stolen goods so that they wouldn't take them from me. I also put down all my money which was about 40k. However, I put this money down on piles of about 2000 on my desk because a pile of 2000 gold is about the same size as a pile of 40000 gold. By doing this I managed to make the whole desk look covered in gold and a collection of 20 piles of 2k looked a whole lot more impressive than one pile of 40k and so I made myself feel really, really rich. Again, pointless - but satisfying.

Mrweh, none of that stuff's pointless! Didn't you ever take over one of the bigger houses and use it to stash all the extra weapons etc that you couldn't cart around? I used to spend many a happy hour arranging swords in groups by size and coolness alongside suits of armour etc then wandering around admiring my collection.

It's from the same ppl isn't it? Or at least a similar game engine??

I do that a little bit in Caius' house in Balmora but I don't like taking over other people's house - I just feel guilty killing them. Even when I was given a mission to go into someone's house and kill her, I still felt bad when I was stashing stuff in her house so I went back in and took it all out...

Besides, putting stuff down is so awkward - whenever I try laying large swords down the tip of the sword always ends up poking through the wall or into the side of a cupboard or something so I have to pick it back up and lay it down properly.

It is yes, but it just seems wrong, and it's more buggy and slow than Morrowind!

I just couldn't do the sea bits either, the trading aspect looked quite good.

Basically, it was Morrowind with added sea but much less fun.

See the above posts, now, if I could have made a collection of parrots and cutlasses on my very own boat that I could walk around, it would have been good.

There were some lovely threads on the Morrowind forums with people showing off their collections (and pillow constructions, come to think of it). Shame work have blocked access to it now ;)

My thing was putting objects of the same type in chests. So, one for keys, lockpicks etc, one for light armour, one for heavy, etc, etc.

And a huge teetering pile of books!

That's ashame I was thinking of picking that up - it got a few half decent reviews.

Mind you, the "Redguard" game a few years back was like a crap version of Daggerfall...

Oh how I loved Daggerfall. The fact that you could buy houses did it for me. And my ship, I loved that.

I've made something in the ditor, which I'm going to send into the humorous picture page in PC gamer.

I've made a stack of about 40 barrels, with a guy standing on top. I'm hoping it looks like david blaine with his standing on a pole for 6 months thingy.

You could tie that into a funny mission...try and ruin the guys career by knocking him down/melting the ice etc. Need a better engine though...

Gloomy Andy got into it had a few hours fun before we traded it.

He got the hang of the seafaring.

It just seemed like such a waste, it could have been ace, but it's just like a half emptier Morrowind with much less to do.

You can't even nick stuff!

You are a pirate.

You can't steal stuff.

What the hell sort of a game is that!

I still want an online Pirate RPG...although I believe there is one let me find it...

I once stored a sword that I had been given in someone elses cupboard, when I came to retrieve it I was branded a thief and attacked.. IT WAS MY FUCKING SWORD!

I played Morrowind a lot over the summer.. Even my mum got into it.. ;)

"So get that spell thing that makes you fly, and then you can get up that tower and see that wizard fella - easy!"

Yes, I was being given help by my mother... ;)

I started again on Sunday, as a theif, I wanted to be an agent, but I thought that would be taking my obsession a step to far!

After faffing about with levitation potions, I ended up at some fort and walked up to ghost gate.

I managed to nick the glass armour from the crate, but there is some on top I just can't steal.

I raided one of the rooms and unlocked all the chests while there were some people in there, had some expensive armour in them, being very sneaky, it was ace!

Unfortunately I couldn't carry it all, so it looks like a long walk back at some point!

I'm going to do all the theives and mages guild quests tonight, then go and join a house.

Looks like another xbox is on the horizon

I now have an urge to play this game as an obscure character class and do nothing in particular

Agents or witchhunters are high on my list of things to be - but i need to sit down and have a good look at the character classes

Last time i tried to play morrowind - i spent nearly 4hours just making characters!
